Tell task reporters to leave Project field empty if unsure
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

Nothing that should really block day 1, but something to consider pretty soon after:

Patch /maniphest/task/create/ so it tells users to "leave the Projects field empty if you have no idea or if you don't feel comfortable to make a guess" and potentially link to http://fab.wmflabs.org/project/query/all/ so they can take a look at existing projects (also see T52)

I still think that we should wait and see what users do and what they really miss. Maybe I'm overoptimistic, but I believe things will be fine since the beginning, and we will focus more on projects and names than on writing code to "fix" this problem.

Yes, this is something to investigate after a few weeks of running Phab in production, to see if triagers survive it or not.

This doesn't seem to be an issue at all?

Aklapper claimed this task.

People sometimes leave it empty and sometimes guess projects incorrectly, but I don't see any difference to the rate that we had in Bugzilla. Declining my own request.

(For the records, "Leave it empty if unsure" is covered in https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Phabricator/Help#Selecting_projects which is linked from https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/How_to_report_a_bug )
