As of now, this page times out when PNG rendering of math symbols is chosen. This should not cause the whole page to not load even if the PNG's take too long to render.

Hi @Jasper, thanks for taking the time to report this! For future reference, a list of steps is welcome.

I set "Math" to "PNG images" in Chromium 69 on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-rendering
I go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matrix_calculus?debug=true
I don't see any time out.
In the web browser's "Developer Tools" in "Network" tab, I do not see any errors - status is always "200". No problem shown in "Console" either.

Cannot reproduce the problem.

The problem seems to have indeed gone away overnight. But see #wikimedia-tech logs from around 8-9 UTC.

Setting status to declined as this cannot be reproduced anymore.
