Investigate life-cycle trends in editing interface use
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

A couple community members have suggested that it would be interesting to know if new users tend to change their preferred editor during their life cycle. This could be an interesting investigation, particularly if it included investigation of life-cycle trends in other areas like editing effort, productivity, and activity choice and comparisons of these trends between earlier and later cohorts of new editors.

@Halfak has offered to advise on such an investigation.

There are a number of previous studies on such topics, including meta:Research:Editor lifecycle and several linked from the contributors life cycle codex page.

Event Timeline

While someone could always study this, it has lost the significance it had in 2016. The conflict around the visual editor has largely disappeared and as a result there is not much value to investigating how users choose between the two editors.
