Right click on interface text to access its translation page (Opt-in-feature)
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Being allowed to right click a localized interface part and then being taken to the correct translatewiki.net translation page with another click would have been a great time saver and quality enhancer for me, when I began translating to a "new" language. Now it strikes me less than every other month a an open desire.

We should think about implementing this on incubator, making it opt-in.

How would this technically work to avoid colliding with your browser's right-click menu? Where would the info which string is exactly associated be stored?

How would this technically work to avoid colliding with your browser's right-click menu?

I did not think about it. Too technical :-) So either - sigh - browser specifics are needed so as to make it happen, or an extra click point needs to be embedded in the HTML

Where would the info which string is exactly associated be stored?

When the message is computed, its key (message-id) is known. The pseudo-language code qqx shows that it is possible to link to the appropriate edit page in translatewiki.net, so basically the same mechanism can be used, only in addition to the standard renderings of the messages.

Maybe it would be possible to have an option to store the message id in a data-* attribute in the tag that contains the interface message?
