What strategies can you use to overcome resistance to empathy training?
When doing empathy training, it must be felt. And when I do empathy training, it’s usually a part of a certain process for example in a coaching conversation or in customer service. People would understand it if they experience it so best to have a lot of exercises where they would feel exactly how the people will feel. For example, if we teach empathy in customer service, there can be a role play where they act as customers and assisted by a staff who is rude and not showing empathy and another scenario where they will feel the staff is empathetic like acknowledging their concerns, actively listening,etc. Empathy must be translated on how to do it on the job.
