Retiring coal plants in Southeast Asia presents unique challenges to the #EnergyTransition—from land constraints to costly transmission infrastructure and building integrated renewable energy and storage system (IRESS) at scale to replace coal's baseload capacity. 🌏ACEN took the stage at #ClimateWeekNYC, with president and CEO Eric Francia joining a panel discussion on how transition credits can accelerate the early retirement of coal plants in Southeast Asia, replacing them with renewable energy while ensuring a just transition for affected communities. Co-organized by The Rockefeller Foundation and Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), the panel, moderated by Gillian Koh Tan from MAS, featured key voices including Scott Morris (Asian Development Bank (ADB), Nathaniel Keohane (Center for Climate and Energy Solutions (C2ES), and Demetrios Papathanasiou (The World Bank Group).
