PFAS, or forever chemicals, are a group of thousands of chemicals with a structure that is extremely difficult to break down. PFAS have been present in hundreds of applications since the 1940s. At least 97% of Americans tested had detectable levels of PFAS in their bodies. Early research indicates these substances may be linked to serious health issues including cancer, suppressed immune responses, hormone disruption, and more. Cleaning up forever chemicals is happening slowly but surely through legislation and regulation on the federal and state levels. EESI’s latest issue brief explores PFAS contamination, regulation, and remediation. 🗺 Map cred: Safer States 📖 https://lnkd.in/e4eEuSwW #PFAS #ForeverChemicals #PFASForeverChemicals #PublicHealth #Pollution #DrinkingWater

At this briefing, experts will discuss the role of federal policy in advancing strategies to improve both the health and climate resilience of the river system. Lunch will be included!
