📢 Following the Enga landslide, IOM continues to provide crucial food aid to affected families. 🌍 With crucial support from USAID - Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance , IOM - UN Migration has successfully distributed non-food items (NFIs) and shelter kits to 250 families displaced by landslides in Enga. This week IOM, with the financial support of the Japanese Government is conducting a 4 day in-person training for 30 border officials from ICSA, Customs and NAQIA stationed at points of entries in Port Moresby, Vanimo, Buka, Kieta, Daru and Lae. The purpose of the training is to build the capacity of border officials on border control and management, public health regulations at border cross points.

Last week IOM conducted workshops on looking at Strategic Planning at Border Points of Entry to PNG. Workshops also discussed findings from baseline assessments that IOM conducted at seven border points around the country. Participants in the workshops included PNG Defence Force, ICSA, Customs, DPLGA, CASA and PNG Ports. Workshops were facilitated by IOM experts on border management and public health, and were made possible through the support of the Japanese Government.
