XaoS lader dig zoome og panorere omkring en fraktal i realtid. Programmet kan vise de animerede fraktaler i grafik eller endda i tilstanden klartekst.

Programmet viser Mandelbrotsættet eller mange andre fraktaler og lader dig zoome stille og roligt ind i fraktalen. Forskellige farvetilstande tilbyde for både punkterne indeni og udenfor det valgte sæt. Derudover tilbydes skift mellem fraktaltyperne Mandelbrot og Julia.

Andre funktioner inkluderer tilstand for autopilot, paletændring, billedlagring, omvendt fraktal, filtre og en indbygget fraktaløvelse.
