What are the "seven generations"? Listen to FSC Indigenous Foundation Council Chair Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim speak on how to live in harmony with Mother Earth and live for the next generations. #IndigenousSolutions
💡 Indigenous Leader Hindou Oumarou Ibrahim reminds us of what everyone can learn from Indigenous Peoples, including their knowledge systems, as well as traditional ways for living in sync with Nature and not separate from it. Learnings that are based on ancestral holistic worldviews of interconnectedness among all living beings, which can help us deal with the Triple Crisis biodiversity loss, climate change and land degradation, while leaving no one behind. Learnings that are not only ancestral foundations to draw upon for co-creating and harvesting Rio Convention synergies in this Triple COP year #CBD #UNFCCC #UNCCD, but also for living up to such learnings from predominant ancestral harmony between peoples and planet towards sustainable futures and generations to come. 🌱 - Interviewed by IDOS Expert Marcelo Cunha (PhD). 🎥 Watch here the full video: https://lnkd.in/dKAzHqwe. | UN Biodiversity, UN Convention to Combat Desertification, COP29 Azerbaijan #ConventiononBiologicalDiversity #COP29 #ClimateChange #BiodiversityLoss #LandDegradation #IndigenousPeoples #SustainableFutures #Klimalog

We continue to work together to ensure that International Labour Organization article 169 becomes a reality for all Indigenous Peoples - recognition of Indigenous Peoples' right, through the Forest Stewardship Council Principle & Criteria The FSC Principle 3 states: The Organisation shall identify and uphold Indigenous Peoples’ legal and customary rights of ownership, use and management of land, territories and resources affected by management activities. We at the Indigenous Foundation are guided by this, in all our conversations on Sustainable Forest Management with the FSC. Thank you Marion Karmann Paul Stephen Opanga Kim Carstensen and the many other FSC colleagues, too numerous to mention for being champions. #IndigenousPeoplesRights #FreePriorInformedConsent #FPIC FSC Indigenous Foundation
