Office Move: “The Office of Documents and Administrative Issuances” and “the Office of Notary Commissions and Authentications” will move to a new location at 899 North Capitol, NE, in early September 2024. The Office of Documents will move to Suite 8700, and the Office of Notary will move to Suite 8100. The office hours will remain the same.

The Office of the Secretary of the District of Columbia announces the new Digital Archive for the Office of Public Records and Archives. This repository will make historical records from the DC Archives available digitally to the public for historical and genealogical research.

Special Activities

The Office of the Secretary helps promote an array of special activities designed to generate a sense of pride and commitment in the nation’s capital, and to encourage community involvement among local residents and visitors. Special activities include commemorating Emancipation Day and the city’s unique place in Civil War history, celebrating Sister City agreements, providing funding for District of Columbia voting rights grants, honoring the city with a commemorative quarter design and supporting a citywide charitable campaign.
