Dwight Jones, president of Education Practice and Policy Partners, suggests leaders tackling the opportunity gap in education should "put their ladder on the right wall." Educators are often asked to do much more than teach the curriculum, often forcing them to lose focus on the core skills students require. Jones insists the "right wall [for leaders] is the one that improves [student] literacy, fosters strong instruction, and guarantees teachers are supported." MaryEllen Elia, former New York State Commissioner of Education, says students aren't considering teaching because "they're hearing from their teachers how difficult it is." Although the COVID-19 pandemic did affect teacher recruitment and retention, the problem is not "brand-new" and is a "core issue that we need to address." What do you think is the best way to encourage young people to consider a career in teaching?

Recently, we visited schools in the Little Rock area to speak with school leaders and teachers to learn about the needs of teachers and students and preview the New World of Kami. After a tour of the super impressive Little Rock Southwest Magnet High, we took a quick pic to capture the moment. The educators' dedication to innovation and student success left a lasting impression on them, reinforcing their determination to make a positive impact in the lives of educators worldwide!

Dr. Alicia Thompson, former superintendent of Kansas’ largest school district, suggests a cautious approach to embracing technology in the classroom. She points out the need to take the time to "do research" and ensure "infrastructures are in place" for people to feel safe and secure.
