Digitalization is not only intensifying and accelerating change in society and industry, it is also having an impact on functional safety in the production world. 🌐 But what if intelligent safety solutions could facilitate end-to-end automation instead of hindering it at key points? There is a new approach: Where conventional safety concepts can no longer keep pace with the rapid development of automation in many industrial applications, SICK Dynamic Safety overcomes these static limits as a holistic, innovative concept. Using real-time localisation data, safety-relevant functions are executed dynamically on the basis of a risk assessment. The safe localisation and holistic analysis of all dynamic movements and positions at all times means that bottleneck situations can be overcome in the future and high production speeds can be maintained. Benjamin Heimpel, Head of Business Unit Safety Systems & Services, and Patrick Vollmer, Head of Business Unit Light Beam Systems, are convinced: „With our seamlessly integrated solutions, we raise productivity to a new, systematic and previously unknown level by allowing processes to run as uninterrupted and trouble-free as possible. A real game changer!“ We believe that Dynamic Safety paves the way for progress in automation. Is this also a topic that could be relevant for you? #SICKSensorIntelligence #innovation #ai #safeautomation #SICKAnnualReport

What do quality control in baked goods and the positioning of metal contacts in semiconductor chips have in common? In both cases, AI-based 3D machine vision can be beneficial during the manufacturing process! The SICK Nova machine vision platform now supports 3D cameras from the Ruler3000 product family through the hardware-specific SensorApp. This combination enables both experts and beginners to perform 3D machine vision quickly and accurately. What's particularly exciting: even intricate details can be inspected at high speeds. Thanks to the high light sensitivity of the Ruler3000, precise inspections are possible even in low light and with reflective materials. Technology and innovation shape our future. But when is something actually an innovation? Mackenzie Hill, a participant at the #SICKSolutionHackathon, has a great approach to answering this with the so-called "VA/VE Formula." With it, you can ensure that your new ideas always align with people's needs and that your solution is an actual innovation. 🎧 Find out more in the new episode! Whether it’s envelopes, labels, brochures, posters, or packaging, relief lacquers and metallic coatings are true eye-catchers. 🎨✨ But achieving top-notch print finishing relies on precision in their production. With the SPEETEC non-contact speed and length measurement system, a quantum leap in process quality has been achieved in the field. The SPEETEC sensor provides ultra-precise measurements, even at high conveyor belt speeds. This data enables precise control of print heads, resulting in even more exquisite, finely metallized fonts and thin lacquered lines on digitally finished packaging and printed materials. 📔 Discover more about the solution ⏩ https://okt.to/IkvHdz #SICKAnnualReport #SICKSensorIntelligence #Printing

"Hackathons are just a bunch of programmers hanging out in a basement for some time!" Sam Larsen-Disney thought the same at the beginning of his hackathon career. But he quickly realized they are actually full of motivated people and offer so much to experience. 🚀 By last year's #SICKSolutionHackathon, Sam had already participated in 66 hackathons and even wrote a book on "How to Survive a Hackathon" with many tips and tricks! 🤯 This year, he will join the SICK Solution Hackathon again from October 15-17, but in a slightly different way. He'll give tips and tricks around the Hackathon live! 📢 Make sure to join the event as well and apply here: https://okt.to/iJ1N5o But be sure to be fast, the registration closes soon! #SICKSensorIntelligence #Hackathon #IOT #AI

Did you know that "Compass" also stands for "Cognitive Machine Perception – a Scalable Solution"? The SICK-internal start-up with this name consists of three colleagues. One of the problems they aim to solve is stationary baggage belts at airports. For airports, this is a significant issue. On the one hand, the transport system can be damaged, and on the other hand, travelers become dissatisfied when they have to wait a long time for their luggage. 🌐✈️ ⏩ Zoom in on the application in the pictures! #SICKAnnualReport #SICKSensorIntelligence #AI #Airport

Have you ever wished you could test-drive an industrial automation solution like a robot depalletizing system without setting foot in your warehouse? This is now possible based on the NVIDIA Omniverse platform. Three real-life sensor solutions are precisely simulated to make it easier for you to virtually verify an application based on the specific robot type and environment. Here you can see if the robot performs its tasks accurately, tailored to the specific model of your robot and also to the unique setup of your warehouse. This is a first step to show what is really possible in the future, namely the virtualization of every sensor and every industrial application.
