Rob's Row | Case Study The Challenge Rob was embarking on a solo, non-stop rowing expedition from Western Australia to Africa and needed to explore communication options, not only for his safety, but also to allow him to remain in touch with his shore crew, family, media and to allow Rob to update his blog and send and receive emails with images and videos for social media. The Solution Pivotel provided Rob with two compact devices, an Iridium GO! which would be paired to his standard smartphone and used predominantly for voice calls and SMS. Plus, the recently released Iridium GO! exec which would not only enable voice calls and SMS but also allowed him to send emails, update his blog and share images and videos using his smart device. We're thrilled to announce that Pivotel has been awarded a contract by the NSW Telco Authority to build and operate four Broadband Cells on Wheels (CoWs). The trailer-based communication solutions are designed to provide rapidly deployable, large-area Wi-Fi and voice services for communities affected by network outages, especially during natural disasters. The CoWs will enhance disaster response efforts by ensuring that high volumes of users can access continuous and reliable communication, bridging the connectivity gap in times of crisis. This initiative is part of the Western Sydney Floods Resilience Plan, showcasing the NSW Government's forward-thinking approach to addressing critical connectivity challenges. The Solution Using Pivotel's Tracertrak platform has allowed Komatsu’s Cairns branch to keep remote workers safe and vastly improve Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) compliance. TEST Call our test number ‘0406 32 TEST’ to check that your device is connected and working correctly. STORE Keep your handset in an easily accessed area, preferably with your FIRST AID KIT or GRAB & GO BAG. THINK It’s always a good idea to have a backup power source using a power bank or solar-powered charger. MATES Give your satellite phone number to your neighbours, family and friends.
