The celebrations began on October 24 with a Rangoli and Painting Competition, reflecting Diwali’s spirit through colorful displays. On October 25, a traditional pooja filled the space with peaceful mantras, underscoring themes of gratitude and enlightenment. Festivities included a Bollywood quiz, singing, dance performances, and poem recitations, adding energy and joy. In collaboration with the NGO Sanskar Nirmaan, OSM Thome shared sweets and stationery with children, who gifted handmade Diwali cards—a touching reminder of the festival’s essence. The celebration concluded with a lunch of traditional sweets, fostering unity and togetherness. The day opened with Tommy Olofsen returning as Conference Chair, setting a dynamic tone for the days ahead. We were honored to hear from Hans Leo Cacdac, Secretary of the Department of Migrant Workers, and Arsenio Dominguez, Attorney General of the IMO, who delivered powerful addresses on the priorities and progress in global crewing.    The Crewing Think Tank Panel brought together a stellar lineup of speakers and engaged an enthusiastic audience of maritime professionals from across the sector. A unified message resonated: seafarers are the backbone of this industry that should be respected and recognized. This session, led by Tommy Olofsen of OSM Thome featured diverse perspectives from leading voices in the field.    Another panel talk was an inspiring update from the Maritime Just Transition Task Force—a collaborative initiative by ICS, ITF, UNGC, ILO, and IMO, focused on training seafarers in green fuels as the industry moves toward decarbonization.
