Some of our team had a great time recently volunteering at House of Science NZ in South Auckland. This NZ charity is focused on improving scientific literacy among Kiwi kids with tools like these Science Resource Kits! 🧪🔬 These awesome kits have everything a teacher needs to create fun, hands on lessons for their students across a range of topics. Even our team were keen to get stuck into some experiments, despite being there to help re pack them! It was great to support the important work that House of Science are doing for our future generations, while also learning how we can improve our volunteering experience in the NZFN warehouse. Thank you for having us! 💚 You can learn more about House of Science at their website: https://houseofscience.nz/ #volunteering #makinganimpact #communitysupport
Last Friday, I was joined by a team from New Zealand Food Network. A sister company to Kiwi Harvest, NZFN is “getting food to where it’s needed most”. They redirect bulk unsellable but perfectly edible food from going to waste to those who need it around the motu. It was nice to hear how another organisation that also relies on volunteers operates and share ideas. They processed 10 kits including: 📏Measurement Matters / Te Whakahirahira o te Inenga 🎆Fireworks / Pahūahi (students get to burn chemicals to see what colours are produced) 🧲Magnetic Madness / Autō Pōrangi 🐝What’s the Buzz? / He Aha Tērā Huhū? (the bumblebee kit) 🚀3, 2, 1 Lift Off! / 3, 2, 1…Kua Rewa! (all about rockets). Thanks for your mahi, team!
