Nigel Hotham has stepped down after 21 remarkable years as 1st XV coach for Hamilton Boys' High School and as the brains behind their world-class rugby programme. Nigel's departure marks the end of an era not just for a school that has captured five national top four secondary schools 1st XV titles but for the wider code. The Pasifika Strategy Steering Group had it’s inagural meeting last Wednesday in Tamaki Makauru! Expertly led by Saveatama Eroni Clarke, it was an honour and privilege to be in the room as the secretary for the group. This group was established to be the operational steering group for the NZR Pasifika Strategy 2024-2029! Some thoughtful discussions and questions raised for the work and outcomes. Our thoughts are with the whānau and loved ones of Norm Hewitt (Ngāti Kahungunu), All Black #938 who passed away yesterday. Norm played 23 Matches for the All Blacks over five years, and was in the Māori All Blacks squad for over a decade.
