It seems surreal that exactly a month ago, we were in the midst of preparing for what would become the first Rascals community event, hosted right here in New Zealand! Created to celebrate our re-brand from Rascal Friends to Rascals, the Rascals Funfest was our way of giving back to our amazing community, in the place where it all started. With over 450 coffees served, 636 photos taken at our Photo Booth and 73 colouring in competition entries throughout the day, the Rascals Funfest was a resounding success! We could not have been prouder of how the event turned out - the positive sentiment from everyone who attended was incredible. Balancing working and being a mum is certainly not easy, it's something I struggle with constantly and it's been especially hard over the last couple of months. But I love and I'm grateful that I get to do both. So I am very proud to announce that I have been selected to be part of the NZ Part Time Power List 2024. It is a list that profiles individuals and employers that are thinking differently about part time roles. It is about celebrating jobs that enable you to build your career, not side-step it when you need a part time role. You can't be what you can't see and the hope with this list is that more employers can see that you can create meaningful part time roles. And that is work that works for everyone! Curious Kiwis spotted something unusual on the Auckland skyline during their commute to work this morning; the sky-high silhouette of New Zealand’s #BiggestFlex ever - a gigantic flex emoji on the roof of @edenparknz.     The colossal flexing bicep is a bold stunt to mark the launch of the brand-new @samsungnz #GalaxyZFold6 and #GalaxyZFlip6 – bringing to life an unmissable version of what you see when you type ‘flex’ into the emoji search bar, which also happens to look similar to the flexing form of the brand-new mobiles unveiled in Paris today.    Did you see it?!

Introducing Hattie Curl! Hattie is a PR extraordinaire who joined the fruit bowl earlier this year after moving over from the U.K. We had a quick catch up with Hattie over cup of tea (earl grey of course) and she shared some more about herself including a recent encounter in the Bay of Islands... If you could have one super-power, what would it be?  It would truly be my dream to speak every language in the world.    What was your dream job as a child?  As a kid it was a toss up between an author or a footballer – two very different choices!   If you had to eat at least one type of food for the rest of your life, what would it be?  I’m definitely a sweet tooth gal, so any kind of cake, pastry or chocolate is a winner for me.   What has been your favourite holiday destination in Aotearoa so far?  That is a really tough one as everywhere we’ve been in Aotearoa has been stunning. Seeing dolphins in the Bay of Islands was incredibly special and the hot springs in Rotorua were gorgeous. Ooh and Piha was unlike any beach I’d ever been to before – such incredible scenery!

Last month we wrapped up the epic NewBalance Run Your Way on tour in partnership with FitnessAllTogether! 👟🏃♂️   We helped host jam-packed fitness sessions in Christchurch, Hawke’s Bay and Wellington to help get attendees race-day ready for their local marathons. The final session, hosted in the crisp, sunny capital, was the perfect end to the tour.    A massive thank you to all who attended the sessions. We hope you learned lots, had fun and ran YOUR way! 🩶

As part of our Matariki celebrations this year, we climbed Maungawhau Mount Eden with Paora Puru, a Māori visual artist, who told us about its significance and place in our world. While we didn’t see Matariki, we shared a moment to remember our loved ones who have passed, enjoyed connecting with our hoa mahi and looking forward to the year ahead. Mānawatia o Matariki.

Kia Ora! For the past 8 weeks, some of us Mangoes have been learning about Te Reo with Rangi Ahipene. Rangi's Reo is part of our group's Takitoru Uplift programme. We've learned the background of Te Reo and the basics of speaking it. Last week was the final session and everyone had the chance to perform an opening karakia, mihi and pepeha which were then followed by a group waiata and closing karakia. We loved every session and quickly found that the ihi of Te Reo, the unspoken magic, made the experience so much more than just learning a language. Ka pai!
