Creativity, Innovation, Advertising Effectiveness, Kindness. Founder/Co-founder of Previously Unavailable, Tracksuit, AF Drinks and Caffeine. Programme Director of the Master of Advertising Effectiveness.

So cool to be on the Black T-Shirts Podcast with Brent Smart and Adam Ferrier. I took a fair bit of heckling for starting out as the I.T. guy in the ad agency, being miserably under-educated and unqualified to do most of the things I do, and for my ads for the Master of Advertising Effectiveness failing the pub test - Ideally can I see you in my office tomorrow please? For these underachievements and more, give it a listen at... https://lnkd.in/er2g6dUS ...or a watch at... https://lnkd.in/exbVK738

SXSW Sydney, you were an absolute blast! 🔥 Thank you to everyone who stopped by and introduced themselves. Our team didn't know what to expect from this years event... but the energy at the booth was electric, and the conversations were a great way to meet the people behind the products. Often conferences can feel a bit transactional, but SXSW Sydney reminded us why we love what we do – genuine, meaningful connections with curious and passionate people. Here are just a few standout moments from an epic few days as defined by our Co-Founder Joshua Nu’u-Steele: 💡 James Donald taking the stage in style: Fully suited up in Ideally merch, James took The Discovery Stage alongside Renece Brewster and Duncan Orchard, CA, CFA as well as Bronte Campbell and her gold medal from this years Olympics.🥇 💡 An incredible morning with Neighbourhood Strategy & Milla McPhee. Talking strategy, experience, and vulnerability. There’s nothing more powerful than when someone shares from the heart – this one was especially insightful for those of us who come from outside the agency world and a wonderful way to say goodbye to our office in Sydney at Example House. 💡 Adam Ferrier on the Modern Marketer's Toolkit: Watching Adam work his magic with Ideally alongside Springboards.ai & Cuttable was next-level inspiring – practical tools for anyone looking to ‘get to great.’ This pitch session was validated by Ideally and words from our very own Research Lead, Lucy. 📣 "Team bonding at its best: Proud doesn’t even begin to describe how we feel about what our Australian crew is building! Decked out in their Ideally linens, they were definitely the most stylish crew at the conference." 🙌 So, where will you see Ideally next? Wrong answers only... 👀 #Ideally #SXSW #MarketingInnovation #TeamIdeally #SXSWSydney #BrandStrategy #ConferenceHighlights

James Hurman I’m sorry for saying how profoundly unqualified you are to be one of the advertising effectiveness leaders in the world today. Loved having you on Black T-Shirts Podcast with Brent Smart. For an IT guy you’re incredibly inspiring, smart and funny. Congratulations on Previously Unavailable Tracksuit and our Pub Test supporter Ideally. A genuine renaissance marketer. https://lnkd.in/g4fubr9U

The marketing team at Ideally is growing 🤩 This week we welcomed two superstars, Greg Synnott joins Ideally as our new Content & Comms Lead and Madison Ford joins as our new Brand Designer. Greg was previously at WellingtonNZ, where he was the senior digital and content manager. He is passionate about storytelling and pushing creativity as far as it can go, particularly when it comes to working with others. Madison (Madie) joins us from top design studios Alt Group, Previously Unavailable and Studio Round. She's a design gun and we can't wait to see her talents unleashed on the Ideally brand. Welcome Greg and Madie! Greg on...   ⭐ Why Ideally? The people and the idea. I've been crying out for years for people to test their creative ideas before they put everything into it and this platform is proof of that concept working. ⭐ What's one innovation that changed your life? My phone, I think. Having my bank, menu, record collection and everything else fit in my pocket has been game changing. I genuinely don't think the world understands how fast everything has changed since the first iPhone came out. ⭐ Where or when do you get your best ideas? I get my best ideas when I get to whiteboard off the right people. Having people push your thinking and challenge your thinking tends to be my favourite way to brainstorm and elevate ideas. Madison on... ⭐ Why Ideally? I was excited to get back into the world of start-ups, having worked at Previously Unavailable in the design team and being surrounded by inspiring companies with disruptive ideas. I love how Ideally really champions brand, stands out in its category, and the product truly fosters creative ideas, thinking, and innovation. The growth opportunities are super exciting, and I can't wait to be along for the ride with such a passionate and enthusiastic team. ⭐ What’s one innovation that changed your life? Anyone who knows me would agree numbers aren’t my strength. So, Splitwise Inc. has definitely been a game-changer for me. I also love using Wise when travelling. Not only is it a clever innovation, but the brand is also 👌 💯 ⭐ Where or when do you get your best ideas? Annoyingly, when I am trying to switch off at night. I usually have a list of notes in my phone with new concepts and design approaches that have come to me during the night, which I test out the next day. I also love a good brainstorming session. I often find that bouncing around thoughts, even as a starting point, can lead to some great ideas down the track.

Three pods in a row with three great humans that I'm proud to have worked with and I'm even prouder of what they've gone on to achieve since. My two favourite ever planners. wanda pogue was my brilliant planning partner at Saatchi who wasn't content being the best big brand planner there is, she's gone on to reinvent herself as a post-creative strategist at VaynerMedia. James Hurman was my brilliant planning partner at Colenso who wasn't content winning all those Lions, he's gone on to reinvent himself as a leader in innovation and venturing at his own company Previously Unavailable. And one of my favourite creatives Johnnie I., who wasn't content doing Cheerios ads that got the whole nation talking, he's gone on to reinvent himself as the creator of an award winning HBO television series. Don't be great at just one thing, push yourself to be great at something new. Thanks as always to my Black T-Shirts Podcast co-host Adam Ferrier and our friends at MIK Studio for producing and friends at Mutinex and Ideally for sponsoring. Episode links in the comments.
