Our council recycles greenwaste, glass, paper, plastics (1,2,5 but not caps) and steel/aluminium cans. There were requests for adding other materials, especially those where volumes per family might be too low to justify the travel/cost to drop them off at a more distant location. We have trialled having bins at our local hub/library where tetra-paks and batteries can be dropped off. When we have enough a single trip to the remote recycling centre is justified. This has so far proved immensely successful, with several thousand terra-paks and approaching 200kg of batteries recycled in a year, and we are now looking at trialling some other materials. Our digital noticeboard with screens facing inside and outside the hub are great way to inform our community about this and many other events, projects and news. #YodeckCompetition Yodeck

A Representation Review has recommended that our local community boards be disestablished - we strongly disagree - we feel that all our wards should have community boards as the best solution for communities voices to be heard, and for council to reach into the community. The community board supports the voice of both council and the community, and the research carried out by the review panel actually supports this, demonstrating a much higher engagement from communities with a community board. This screen is just one of the many projects we have initiated in our community - running on the Yodeck platform, with screens both inside and outside (larger - visible to passers-by) the screens run a continuous show of community information, events, and even real-time data such as bus cancellations, news headlines and more. It is part of a larger program we have to reach all parts of our community through a variety of channels. #YodeckCompetition Yodeck
