Downer’s Chief Executive Officer, Peter Tompkins, said: “Over the past 18 months, we have made significant changes to our operating model and organisational structure to better support the outcomes we deliver for our customers. This result demonstrates Downer’s ability to deliver improved performance and highlights the depth of talent we have in our business and our enduring customer relationships. Queensland’s most accessible trains. Delivered. 🚄 Our Rail & Transit Systems team is proud to have delivered accessibility upgrades across the entire 75 Queensland New Generation Rollingstock (NGR) train fleet. This program commenced in 2019 and has delivered the most accessible rail fleet Queensland has ever seen. The accessibility upgrades include the addition of a second toilet on all 75 NGR 6-car sets, increasing the size of toilet modules by 10% and installing new functional improvements for people with disabilities. These trains were manufactured by Alstom, who awarded part of the NGR accessibility upgrade program to Downer in Maryborough. Downer Utilities has secured an extension of its partnership with Western Power. #Skilltech, Downer’s metering business, has been delivering meter installations and associated electrical services for Western Power since 2021. We’re thrilled to renew our contract to continue delivering meter exchange services under the panel agreement. The team have also been selected as the new sole provider of meter reading services around the South West Interconnected System including all major metropolitan and country regions. “We’re proud of our longstanding relationship with Western Power which is testament to the safety, quality and operational performance that continues to be demonstrated by our #Skilltech business.” David MacKenzie, EGM Telco and Metering. #metering
