📈 Some boards have been producing voluntary climate-related disclosures for several years, but the Aotearoa New Zealand Climate Standards have necessitated a significant uplift for climate reporting entities. There are a lot of lessons that have been learned along the way. Our new report - Lessons from the front line - produced in collaboration with Chapter Zero New Zealand foundation partner KPMG New Zealand, shares guidance developed through conversations with those who have first-hand experience delivering climate statements for their organisations. Their advice aims to help other directors, whether captured by New Zealand’s climate-reporting regime or not, to better understand what is required and how to generate value from climate reporting. 💬 A board that gets its collective head around potential climate impacts, works through scenarios, and ties those possibilities back to strategy, will have an enormous opportunity to add sustainable value to their organisation. “The question at hand is ‘how resilient is my business, going forward?’,” asks KPMG New Zealand Partner - Sustainable Value Alec Tang asked in a recent interview with the Institute of Directors. At the upcoming IoD/Chapter Zero Climate Governance Forum in Auckland, Tang will present a session that will cover opportunities, risks, and climate scenarios, to help your board develop more resilient business models and strategies.  The one-day programme also features sessions on legal risk, the impact of AI and directors’ experiences of transition planning. ➡ Read more on what Alec had to say https://lnkd.in/gePXxtUu ➡ Register for the Climate Governance Forum https://lnkd.in/gyfMdgYP

🌏 New Zealand has the talent and the ingenuity to lead in climate-tech innovation. That means the moral imperative to act is aligned with a strategic opportunity that could make us richer, as a country, and reduce carbon emissions worldwide, says climate-tech angel investor Oliver Bruce MInstD. At the upcoming IoD & Chapter Zero New Zealand Climate Governance Forum on 21 October in Auckland, Bruce will discuss how to leverage the opportunities – much talked about but little defined – and manage the physical and transition risks of climate change, from an investment perspective. 🔔 Stay tuned for the spring issue of Boardroom magazine, coming soon, for his feature interview> https://lnkd.in/gFCbmMjh Register here to join us at the Climate Governance Forum in-person or online ➡ https://lnkd.in/gyfMdgYP
