☕ Something's brewing at Smales Farm! If you’re a regular at Smales Farm, you may have seen signage around our construction site in front of AIA House; we’re working hard, getting ready to welcome a brand-new cafe early in 2025. This new offering will be joining caffeine-serving heavy hitters like Ripe Deli and Goodness Gracious, favourites amongst our Smales Farm visitors and B:HIVE members! Great coffee is just another reason to visit (or work) at Smales Farm. Our new cafe will of course be very conveniently located for B:HIVE members working out of B:HIVE , due to open March 2025. 🔶 We wanted to take a moment to say congratulations to B:HIVE member Huski for winning Bronze at the NZ Best Design Awards for their latest innovation, The Huski Champagne Cooler! Founded by a couple of Kiwi beer lovers, Huski has grown from a shared office with 6 workstations to their own private office within B:HIVEHQ. 🚀 We are really enjoying watching Huski grow.   Huski's commitment to crafting high-quality products that keep drinks cold has resonated with so many people globally, including our B:HIVE members. 🔶 This Sunday, our doors are OPEN! Given we’re already expecting a great crowd at Smales Farm for the Auckland Plant Market this weekend, we thought we would open the doors to B:HIVE HQ. We've had many people say they've heard of B:HIVE, or even walked / driven past - but “never actually been inside!” Let's fix that! Pop in between 9am - 3pm for a peek at this awesome award-winning space. From the iconic bright orange stairs, huge overhead skylight, hundreds of lush indoor plants, architectural design and innovative design features, B:HIVE HQ is a place we’re incredibly proud of. We would love to show you (and family, friends) around. Lighting can make such a difference to productivity and mood - it’s one of the key features at B:HIVE that makes the space so special. Here, lighting is used to boost productivity, enhance well-being and create a unique ambience for our members and visitors to enjoy. It’s also just awesome to look at - aesthetically pleasing as they say! Light is central to design at B:HIVE. From the moment you step inside B:HIVE HQ, natural light takes center stage. Sunlight floods through the expansive skylight overhead, illuminating the ground floor atrium and each of the five floors above. A huge one-of-a-kind Angus Muir light installation provides a dynamic greeting for visitors. No, you are not imagining it - each day it is different, this installation is forever changing by way of colour and shape. Other Angus Muir installations are found on each floor throughout the building. At B:HIVE, lighting is not only a feast for the eyes - it’s also smart and energy efficient. Throughout the building, LED lighting is the standard, with sensors in place to turn off lights after hours or when rooms are vacated. Meeting rooms feature absence detection, so lights turn off automatically when not in use. Some teams work full time in the office, others rotate teams (sharing desks) so as to maximise cost efficiency of space. A number of hybrid models are at play, some members have half of their team “in office" and others fully remote - a couple of organisations in B:HIVE work largely remotely, whilst using the office as a space to "come together" as a team for connection and celebration. 🔶 Sweating for a great cause! 🚴♀️ Our atrium at B:HIVE, Smales Farm was buzzing with energy yesterday, with the inaugural SPINFLUENCE event! A huge shoutout to Kevin Moultrie, B:HIVE member and SPINFLUENCE organizer, for bringing this incredible event to life! This 6-hour team relay spin challenge went beyond fitness – it was about building community, supporting a worthy cause, and boosting mental well-being through teamwork and fun. We loved seeing our B:HIVE members, alongside others from the business community, putting their spin skills to the test, getting in the community spirit and helping raise funds for RISE UP. Through the mammoth efforts and pedal strokes of 23 registered teams, SPINFLUENCE was able to raise funds to support the work of this charitable foundation that provides training opportunities and career pathways for disadvantaged/displaced rangatahi (youth) across Aotearoa.
