The potential of advanced technology in rescue missions is immense, and drones stand out as a crucial tool in this regard. Drones equipped with thermal cameras are particularly effective in search and rescue operations. They can detect heat and temperature differences through thermal imaging, making it possible to find missing persons by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by human skin. This technology can pinpoint individuals even in challenging environments, significantly increasing the chances of a successful rescue. Additionally, unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) can navigate through submerged areas in flood situations, locating and rescuing individuals trapped underwater or in hard-to-reach places, further enhancing our disaster response capabilities. An inspiring example comes from South Korea, where Arirang TV showcased firefighting drones designed for rapid response in forest fires and high-rise building emergencies. These drones, equipped with firefighting equipment, can spray CO2 directly onto the source of the fire, reaching areas that traditional methods struggle with. Reflecting on this, we can't help but think of the Saurya Air crash, where such technology might have made a difference. The hope for timely and efficient disaster response remains strong. If only we could employ such advanced technology in Nepal, we could manage disasters more effectively and potentially save more lives. Our hearts go out to the families of the deceased. Despite the challenging height and low temperature, the drone performed flawlessly. In April 2024, we executed a house numbering and street coding survey in Jhapa, at just 100 meters above sea level with extensive high temperature of 42 degree celsius. The versatility of Wingtra was clear-cut, delivering amazing results and flawless performance across vastly different elevations and temperatures.” Handling Nepalese terrain: “In 2022, we conducted a drone survey along the Kagbeni river in Mustang, Nepal, for river training and flood modeling. The area, located at an elevation of 13,200 feet (4,023 meters) AMSL, is characterized by freezing temperatures and rugged terrain. The WingtraOne drone, with its terrain-following feature and straightforward workflow, simplified our tasks.
