𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗹𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘀 Elicio and BayWa r.e. recently won the AO5 tender for France’s first commercial-scale floating wind project, securing the 250MW #Pennavel project at an impressive €86.45/MWh, significantly below the ceiling price. This project is poised to bridge the gap between smaller pilot projects and larger 1GW initiatives, boosting floating wind capacity. However, it’s important to note that the unique conditions of the AO5 tender, such as the grid connection handled by RTE and favorable site conditions, mean this should not be used as a benchmark for future tenders. Policymakers must avoid setting unrealistic benchmarks, while developers need to ensure responsible bidding and focus on project deliverability. Robust data and advanced simulation solutions are crucial for optimizing project planning and execution. Floating wind energy still presents immense global opportunities. The Global Offshore Wind Report by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) projects 8.5GW of installed floating wind by 2030, although this is a 22% decrease compared to last year's projections. Achieving commercial maturity will require careful planning and execution, emphasizing the need for reliable data and strategic decision-making. 🔗 Read more in the full article here: https://hubs.ly/Q02HXjLF0 #Floatingwind #Offshorewind #Renewableenergy #WindEnergy

🌊 The offshore wind industry is experiencing rapid growth worldwide, with global capacity expected to reach 487 GW by 2033. In Japan, there is a strong push towards renewable energy to decrease dependence on fossil fuels and nuclear power. The Japanese government aims to install 10 GW of offshore wind capacity by 2030 and expand this to 30-45 GW by 2040, aligning with the nation’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. 💡 Aligning with these trends, TEPCO Renewable Power is expanding its offshore wind portfolio through a collaboration with Shoreline Wind. By utilizing Shoreline’s O&M simulation software, TEPCO plans to optimize maintenance costs, predict future cash flows, and improve logistics. This partnership harnesses data-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency and reliability, marking a significant move towards innovative and digitalized offshore wind operations. #RenewableEnergy #OffshoreWind #Sustainability #Innovation #TEPCO #OffshoreWind #DigitalTransformation

🌊 Netherlands Awards 4GW Offshore Wind Tender in Largest Licensing Round Yet! Yesterday marked a significant achievement as the Netherlands announced the winners of a major offshore wind tender, awarding a combined 4 GW capacity to Vattenfall, CIP (Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners), and SSE Renewables. The awarded capacity involves the development of two separate projects, IJmuiden Ver Alpha and Ijmuiden Ver Beta, each contributing 2 GW, located approximately 62 km off the Dutch coast in the North Sea. The sites are expected to be commissioned in 2029 and come with a secured grid connection to be built by grid operator TenneT. Interestingly, this tender also witnessed a notable focus on factors such as sustainability, system integration, and innovation that counted for a lot under the tendering mechanism accompanied by the financial bid. It was acknowledged by the Dutch government that market conditions have indeed become more complicated, which is a trend that aligns with the recent article on project viability: https://lnkd.in/d4QyaXdd  See official results here: https://hubs.ly/Q02BGTRs0 Looking ahead, a third 2GW plot (IJmuiden Ver Gamma) will open to bidders in Q3 2025 as part of a Dutch government target to deploy 21GW in the North Sea by 2032. At Shoreline Wind, we are thrilled to witness the ongoing advancements in offshore wind technology. Since many of our users have been involved in the tender submission process and modeling multiple different T&I bid strategies, we look forward to following these projects closely and supporting the teams that will bring them into operation. Congratulations to Vattenfall, CIP, and SSE Renewables on their successful bids! 👏 𝘐𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘴: 𝘙𝘝𝘖.𝘯𝘭 (𝘕𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘌𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦 𝘈𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘺)

France awarded its first commercial-scale floating offshore wind auction to Elicio and BayWa r.e. Global. with the 250 MW Pennavel project, a significant step forward in scaling up floating wind technology. In Sweden, Deep Wind Offshore plans the Erik Segersäll floating offshore wind farm of 1.5 GW, and potentially supporting an area of 4.5 GW through several development phases to meet the needs of 2.5 million Stockholm residents. In addition to these achievements, Stiesdal has reported that the TetraSpar Demonstrator Project has achieved an impressive 63% capacity factor, highlighting the efficiency and potential of floating wind platforms. These projects showcase the immense potential of floating wind technology. Despite the progress, the industry still faces challenges such as high costs, complex installations, and regulatory hurdles. Innovative solutions and ongoing investments are crucial to overcoming these obstacles and fully realizing the potential of floating wind farms. Looking ahead, the future of floating wind technology appears promising and exciting.
