    🌊 Taiwan Awards 2.7GW Offshore Wind Tender in Latest Auction Round! This week marked a significant milestone as Taiwan announced the winners of a major offshore wind tender, awarding a combined 2.7 GW capacity to various developers in its Round 3.2 auction. The awarded capacity includes several key projects: ➡ Synera Renewable Energy: Formosa 6 (800 MW) ➡ SHINFOX ENERGY CO., LTD.: Youde (700 MW) ➡ Copenhagen Offshore Partners: FengMiao 2 (600 MW) ➡ Corio Generation/TotalEnergies Formosa 3 (360 MW) ➡ Enervest: Deshuai (240 MW) Taiwan's offshore wind journey is just getting started, and these latest results are a testament to the rapidly evolving landscape. This tender highlighted several important criteria, focusing on aspects such as environmental sustainability, local content, and innovation, which were integral to the evaluation process alongside the financial bids. The winners now have until November 11 to submit formal notices, and we’ll be watching closely to see how these projects unfold.     🌍 Major Milestone for Renewable Energy in the EU! 🌬☀️ For the first time in history, wind and solar power have overtaken fossil fuels as the primary sources of electricity generation in the European Union! This significant milestone was reached in May, with nearly a third of the EU's electricity being generated from wind and solar, surpassing the 27% from fossil fuels. Key highlights from the Ember Climate report include: 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Wind energy generated a substantial 17% of the EU’s electricity in May, playing a crucial role in the overall 30% contribution from wind and solar combined. 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗽𝘂𝘁: Solar power also reached a record high, contributing 13% of the EU’s electricity, surpassing coal for the first time. This project is poised to bridge the gap between smaller pilot projects and larger 1GW initiatives, boosting floating wind capacity. However, it’s important to note that the unique conditions of the AO5 tender, such as the grid connection handled by RTE and favorable site conditions, mean this should not be used as a benchmark for future tenders. Policymakers must avoid setting unrealistic benchmarks, while developers need to ensure responsible bidding and focus on project deliverability. Robust data and advanced simulation solutions are crucial for optimizing project planning and execution. Floating wind energy still presents immense global opportunities. The Global Offshore Wind Report by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) projects 8.5GW of installed floating wind by 2030, although this is a 22% decrease compared to last year's projections.
