Accelerating students to become world-class engineers

Om oss

Each year a new team of engineering students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), take on the challenge to develop, design, and build a Formula Student race car. In the process, we utilize all our knowledge acquired at the university to put theory into practice. We race the cars in international Formula Student competitions, in a variety of disciplines. In 2016 we developed Scandinavia's first-ever electric 4WD race car, and are ranked among the top ten teams in the world! In 2022, we will combine our autonomous and manual cars into a single race car. How much can you learn in just two weeks? With the support of passionate alumni, you can certainly learn enough to understand how even the smallest of design changes will impact the performance of the full car 🏎️ During the first two weeks, the team has been introduced to how all systems on the car affect each other, and how essential internal and cross-department communication will be to succeed in the competitions. Next up: Concept Review - a weekend of presenting design concepts, receiving feedback, and finding the best solutions together 🙌

The first two weeks of Team 2025 are flying by! 🏎️ To most, this is the first hands-on experience they have with building a race car. Despite the steep learning curve, they tackle the challenge head on and are already drafting the first design concepts for this year's car 🤫 After some intense days inside, we went on a weekend cabin trip to wind down and engage in team building activities. Re-energised by the fresh forest air, we're now fully focusing on finalising concepts 🏕️🛶

And with that, the 2024 season comes to an end 🏁 The season started off with a bang, at FSN, by securing our first-ever overall win, and we carried that momentum moving forward 🏆 Attending both the Electric and Driverless class at FS East was challenging, but we left Hungary with even more first-ever trophies, this time for the Driverless class. Finally, it was crunch time in Germany. We rolled up our sleeves and set our sights on the overall podium. The week started out well, with being on track with the technical inspections. However, despite non-stop pushing and dedication to reaching our goals by working and attempting drives till the very last seconds, we were only able to finish three out of seven Dynamic events. After five weeks on tour, through scorching heat and rainy thunder storms, the team is happy to return to the chiller, Norwegian environment. The preparations for the next season are already well underway, and it won’t be long until we can say “hello” to the 2025 team 👋 This year’s incredible achievements wouldn't be possible without the support of our partners. Our shared dedication to innovation and pushing for perfection and performance has been key in maximising both our team and car’s potential. Additionally, in the spirit of Formula Student, the hospitality, generosity, and aid of Elbflorace Formula Student Team TU Dresden e.V. and Rennstall Esslingen allowed us to keep going throughout the competition season. Without them, we would not be driving at either FS East or FSG 🙌 Let's keep pushing to the top! ---------- 🇳🇱 **Formula Student Netherlands (FSN)** 🥇 Overall, Electric class 🥇 Engineering Design, Electric class 🥇 Autocross, Electric class 🥉 Endurance, Electric class 🥇 Efficiency ---------- 🇭🇺 **Formula Student East (FS East)** 7th Overall, Electric class 5th Overall, Driverless class 🥇 Business Plan Presentation, Electric class 🥇 Business Plan Presentation, Driverless class 🥈 Acceleration, Electric class 🥈 Acceleration, Driverless class 🥈 Skidpad, Driverless class 🥉 Engineering Design, Driverless class 🥉 Cost & Manufacturing, Driverless class ---------- 🇩🇪 **Formula Student Germany (FSG)** 22nd Overall, Electric class 9th Overall, Driverless Cup 🥈 Engineering Design, Driverless Cup 🥇 Business Plan Presentation 🥉 Acceleration, Driverless Cup Three competitions. 15 podiums.
