Many employees in the fund spend time working in different global offices, and as interns, we feel very fortunate to get to experience this!🌟

Last Wednesday, we had the pleasure of having lunch with our CEO Nicolai and Deputy CEO Trond! 🥗🧃 It was a refreshing break from the workday, where we interns had a fantastic opportunity to get to know both them and the fund better. 🤩During the conversations, many valuable pieces of advice and insights were shared, which we would like to share with you: • If work feels like work, you are in the wrong place 🙅🏽♀️ • Travel and spend money on experiences, not things 🌎 • Be a good friend, and you will get good friends 🤝 • You can be both tough and caring 🧸

🥇 Graduate Johannes Røsok Eskilt receives the King of Norway's Gold Medal for his PhD and Fulbright Norway Award for Best Young Researcher as well! 👑 “June has been an extraordinary month for me!” Johannes says. “In the PhD we were trying to figure out the shape of the Universe, namely if it repeats itself circularly. If you jump into a spaceship and go far enough in one direction, do you come back to where you started from? It’s kind of like living on a surface of a sphere, just one higher dimension, which is impossible to picture in your head, but the math allows it”, the awarded graduate explains. We simply have world class graduates here at the fund, and we are incredibly proud to have such talented colleagues working here. Johannes entered the graduate programme in August last year, and works at our #London office. His PhD in Cosmology is linked to how he works in the fund, gathering and analysing data. “My day-to-day work is more similar than people might think. You have to look at data, be skeptical of data and analyse data. The data itself is very different, but as soon as I enter the office, I start coding in Python, so that part is also very similar”, he says. 🎓 As a graduate you can expect to work hands-on in all areas, and you’re given responsibility and trust immediately. 👩🎓 Want to apply for our 2025 graduate programme? What can we learn about performing under pressure from the world’s best football penalty takers? ⚽💸     We regularly invite interesting speakers that bring a new perspective, challenge our views, and get us truly thinking twice.      This time, we were lucky to host a timely guest, Geir Jordet, author of Pressure: Lessons from the psychology of the penalty shootout, to share his thoughts on performing under pressure.       Geir took us to the crux of his 20 years of research, and he showed how football players like #Zidane, #Ødegaard and Chloe Kelly handled pressure and did their jobs, and of course linking it back to the fund.   Biggest learning point? Probably that a penalty is a team event.      It got us thinking about how we can handle pressure in our work, when billions of dollars are at stake.     Here are our takeaways on how to perform better under pressure:   ⚽ Change the narrative from ‘this is a lottery’ to ‘what can I control’.   ⚽ Accept that you will be nervous and you will make mistakes.   ⚽ Focus on your process and the result will look after itself.   ⚽ Move from individual to team performance.    ⚽ Build trust away from pressure to create trust under pressure.     #Oljefondet #NorgesBankInvestmentManagement #football #soccer #learning #psychology #finance

How do we unlock the low-carbon real estate market? 🏢🌳 We need a market where carbon and energy data are shared and used like financial data to inform decision-making. Performance transparency and clear targets enable the market to properly identify, price, and demand low-carbon buildings and portfolios. Investors can play a key role in delivering this through 🏢 Stimulating demand for transparency 🏢 Use better ratings tools 🏢 Facilitating data sharing 🏢 Advocating for transparency from standard setters. Over the last 18 months we’ve been working closely with Systemiq Ltd., key standard setters and ratings bodies, and other real estate investors including ATP, BlackRock, HOOPP (Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan), Ivanhoé Cambridge, Pictet Group, Urban Partners, and Victory Group as part of the #LOTUF project to understand how to accelerate decarbonisation and unlock demand for low-carbon buildings.
