Saipem presents solution for large-scale green hydrogen production, utilizing Nel’s technology   We are excited to announce that Saipem, a world leader in engineering and construction of major projects for the energy and infrastructure sectors, has launched IVHY™ 100, a scalable and modular 100 MW green hydrogen solution leveraging Nel’s technology, advancing the decarbonization of hard-to-abate industries and renewable hydrogen production.   "The IVHY™ 100 concept represents a significant step forward to promote innovative and sustainable solutions in the field of renewable hydrogen. Indeed, we aim to meet the increasing demand to reduce carbon emissions in challenging industries by utilizing renewable hydrogen. In addition, we focus on creating hydrogen derivatives like ammonia, methanol, and sustainable fuels," says Guido D'Aloisio, Chief Commercial Officer of Saipem   Nel’s President and CEO, Håkon Volldal, also highlighted:   “We are proud that Saipem, a world-leading Engineering Procurement and Construction company actively contributing to the energy transition, has selected Nel and our technology. Håkon Volldal, CEO of Nel, has just wrapped up his panel discussion at World Hydrogen Week, where he addressed the topic “Electrolysers: On the edge of moving from niche to mainstream.”   During the discussion, Håkon emphasized how early adopters are key to scaling up. He used a clear analogy: "It's like waiting for the perfect TV—if you keep waiting for the ideal model to become cheaper, you’ll never buy one. By investing now in a technology that might not be perfect, you significantly de-risk future projects, get a head start on competition and help push the entire industry forward." His message was clear: The future of hydrogen depends on taking action today to lower costs and improve efficiency.   A big thank you to fellow panelists Sune Lilbaek and Frank Dahlmanns for an engaging conversation. #WHW #WHL

The European Hydrogen Bank has just released the much-anticipated terms and conditions for its second auction, allocating €1.2 billion to scale up the production of renewable hydrogen across Europe.   "With the new terms and conditions for the next hydrogen bank auction, the EU has taken significant steps towards a level playing field for European electrolyzer OEMs and creating more green jobs from the European hydrogen industry," says Håkon Volldal, CEO and President of Nel.   Here are some key updates 👇 #renewablehydrogen #EU #hydrogenbank

City of St. Cloud buys Nel electrolyser for its wastewater treatment facility ♻️ In St. Cloud, a city of about 70,000 people in central Minnesota, wastewater is being converted into fertilizer and fuel. Now, the city will start using a containerized PEM electrolyser from Nel to produce renewable hydrogen from its already installed solar panels, in addition to producing biogas generated by the treatment process. “In the future, the whole community of St. Cloud will use renewable hydrogen to decarbonize a wide range of sectors,” says Tracy Hodel, Public Services Director for the City of St. Cloud. The city currently produces three times the energy it consumes as a municipality. Its goal is to become carbon neutral for electricity use by 2028 and for electricity, building heat, and transportation by 2038. “It’s inspiring to see the commitment to sustainability in the City of St. Cloud. We are proud to support them in their ambitious efforts to reach net zero,” says Steve Szymanski, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Nel. We’ve reached an important milestone, contributing to the first dynamic Power-to-Ammonia plant in the world, located in Ramme, Denmark.   This breakthrough facility, developed by Skovgaard Energy, Topsoe, and Vestas with support from EUDP, demonstrates that storing green energy and powering industries with green ammonia is no longer just a future vision.   Nel is proud to have supplied 10MW of electrolyser capacity in the form of four of our A485 units to this world-first project. Production line two at Herøya is up and running 👊 Our second production line at the Herøya factory in Norway, with a 500 MW capacity, is now fully operational. With this, we have an annual production capacity of 1 GW in Norway, making our facility at Herøya one of the world's largest automated electrolyser manufacturing facilities.
