We are proud that Mitigrate was selected in the TOP 50 Semi-Finals of the 6th edition of the largest PropTech/ConTech competition in EUROPE for our work on flood disaster prevention with insurers. The PropTech and ConTech StartUp & Scale-up Europe Awards 2024 by the European PropTech Association and FINNOVA FOUNDATION supported and promoted by the European Commission, by the President of the European Parliament, the President of the European Committee of the Regions, the Vice-President of the European Economic and Social Committee and several members from the European Parliament. The growth of this competition has been impressive: from 140 applications in 2019 to 400 contestants in 2023. The competition enjoys the support of 70 C-level executives in Real Estate and Tech and members of the European Commission,, which guarantees a balanced and truly objective validation of the best and the most promising PropTech and Contech startups in Europe. We are thrilled to participate in this 2 day event in Brussels at Realty Belgium organised by Dirk Paelinck, Chairman European PropTech Association and his team. How much predicted loss can be reduced thanks to prevention? It is what insurers learnt from Aon Property Day Seminar in London last week, where Mitigrate presented the result of a collaboration. 👩🎓 By leveraging the 2007 flood losses and extent, considering new flood defences built since, the analytics team from Aon UK & Ireland led by Joseph Norris could estimate that more than 30% of losses could be avoided from community level prevention and through the Flood Re scheme should a similar event occur today. 📉 Through a collaboration with the Aon team with a case study in the Gloucester area, we estimated how much property flood resilience (PFR) could further reduce losses. Climate loss prevention full loop from value to the policyholder all the way to better quality capacity from the reinsurer, discussed at the Annual Chaucer Group Nordic seminar organised by Chaucer Copenhagen last week. 📢 The panel composed of Ajla Alagic sustainability lead at Gjensidige, Tom Jackson class underwriter at Chaucer Group and Laurent Olivier Feuilleaubois CEO at Mitigrate moderated by Joel M. deputy class underwriter from Chaucer discussed how insurance can support society in new ways by promoting climate loss prevention at every level promoting insurability and affordability of insurance in an era of climate risk. ☔ Loss prevention responds to a fundamental need from the policyholders, who expect from from their policies a financial safety net to realise their projects, should they be personal or professional.
