Igniting Progress with Partners at the Tanzanian Health Summit 2024 in Zanzibar! Together with Haydom Lutheran Hospital, the lead implementing institution for the Safer Births Bundle of Care program, we are here showcasing the bundle and strengthening connections with key stakeholders and government officials. It has been fantastic to hear continued enthusiasm for the program from members of the government, including Dr. Felix Bundala (Assistant Director for Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health) from the Ministry of Health - plus a strong desire to see it scaled up nationally. Showcasing the program together this week, alongside the team at Haydom Lutheran Hospital, has only reinforced the incredible power of partnership. This is particularly relevant as the theme for the conference is igniting progress: joining efforts for quality healthcare through public-private partnerships. The strong shared commitment towards improving the care for mothers and newborns across Tanzania is evident - and very motivating. 🚼 In Ethiopia, about 10% of births are estimated to be preterm, totaling around 400,000 every year. 🌟 The Saving Little Lives 360 program was developed to address this. This new integrated program is built on the foundation of the Saving Little Lives program and is now being integrated with the NEST 360 program to increase impact and enhance care for preterm and low birth weight babies across Ethiopia. The program will cover 290 hospitals🏥, with a high-impact focus in a select number of facilities through the implementation of a comprehensive package and intensive support. The Ethiopian Ministry of Health has ownership of the program and will lead and drive the implementation. Public Health Specialist Abiy Seifu Estifanos shares insights on the evolution of care for small and sick newborns in Ethiopia and how the lessons learned can inspire other countries. 💬Hear what he had to say: https://lnkd.in/dGZf5Hu3

Loini Talishi Shivolo, is a dedicated doctor in a small town in Namibia. Like many rural areas, there is little access to training resources. Loini has dreamed of establishing a simulation unit at Onandjokwe Intermediate Hospital in Namibia to enhance care in her community. When Loini attended the World congress of anesthesiologists 2024, she spotted a call for applications to receive a MamaBirthie CS simulators from Laerdal Global Health in partnership with WFSA (World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists). She was quick to apply. And guess what? She won! Along with 27 others who applied! 🎉 Congratulations to all winners!

What a fantastic final day it was at the #ICMRegionals in Kigali. We had a great time co-facilitating the Essential Newborn Care 1 workshop with American Academy of Pediatrics and World Health Organization, and are delighted it was captured so well in these pictures. 💚👇 A big thank you to International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) for hosting such an impactful and inspiring few days - and to all those we connected with.
Day 3 at the #ICMRegionals in Kigali was all about building practical skills! From essential newborn care and safe abortion care to empowering midwives through twinning programs, participants were fully immersed in hands-on learning. We closed with a heartfelt ceremony, calling on everyone to apply the knowledge gained to build stronger midwives and associations. A big thank you to the participants, partners, and the incredible team who made this event possible! 🌍💪 Now that the Africa & Eastern Mediterranean Regional Conference is over, we’re excitedly looking forward to the next one in Europe, happening in Berlin this November! 📢 The Neonatal Global Resuscitation Alliance is seeking feedback on a 10-step approach for improving neonatal resuscitation. An open process is underway to gather feedback on a drafted 10-step approach to improve in-facility neonatal resuscitation. The aim is that these 10 steps will support neonatal resuscitation implementation and performance, improving outcomes worldwide. The concept of gathering experts to create a 10-step approach for improving patient outcomes was pioneered with the Global Resusciation Alliance's 10-steps for treatment of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. That 10-step approach was subsequently adapted to in-hospital cardiac arrest. With important targets for reducing newborn mortality, set out in the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030, a group of experts from around the world met at Utstein earlier this month to develop a Neonatal Global Resuscitation Alliance (Neo-GRA). The Neo-GRA identified 10 steps to improve in-facility neonatal resuscitation. ➡ Now the Neo-GRA is inviting public review and comment. Each of the 10 steps, and additional information, are available on this link: https://lnkd.in/d2EJHGyN Note, this open process with close on 8th October, 2024 #newborncare #neonatology #globalhealth #resuscitation #globalresuscitationalliance

So many important questions on the topic of strengthening health systems being discussed at #UNGA79. We're proud to have our CEO Karoline Myklebust Linde at the table for many of these discussions - always advocating for the acceleration of improved maternal health outcomes and for scaling programs that really work when it comes to reducing maternal and newborn mortality. 👏 #helpingsavelives #maternalcare #newborncare #healthcare #healthcareworker
How to strengthen the health workforce? How can we scale innovations sustainably? What are the areas that we should invest in first to get the biggest impact? What kind of financing mechanisms could be leveraged? How can we learn from the successes in advancing maternal and newborn health seen in Rwanda, Sierra Leone and Tanzania? And what can do to support these countries to achieve more? These are some of the discussions that we have had with partners, researchers, inspiring female leaders and health ministers today at the #UNGA79. Tomorrow another inspiring day awaits with the @clinton-global-initiative, where the private sector role in strengthening health systems and preparedness will be in focus, along with topics like accelerating maternal health outcomes, and how to scale the remarkable outcomes seen from the #SaferBirthsBundleofCare program.

As world leaders gather in New York for the 79th United Nations General Assembly, to grapple with the challenges that face us globally, we are proud that our CEO, Karoline Myklebust Linde and our Director of Advocacy and Programme Development, Eivind Fjeldstad will join a number of high profile meetings, round-tables and discussions. 👇 Stay tuned for more updates from their time at the UNGA 2024.
According to the World Health Organization more than 60 countries are not reaching their Sustainable Development Goals on maternal/newborn health. A great example going against this negative trend is the Safer Births programme in Tanzania - showing remarkable results, with valuable lessons learnt on how to strengthen health systems! Together with CEO Karoline Myklebust Linde I am in New York this week to meet new and existing partners of Laerdal Global Health to discuss how to best scale-up this successful approach! #UNGA77 Government of Tanzania

We are inviting midwives’ associations that are members of ICM to submit project proposals on how they would use MamaNatalie simulators to train midwives to prevent, identify, and manage postpartum haemorrhage. The final day for submissions is November 15, 2024. 👉 Learn more about eligibility criteria and how to submit a project proposal here: https://lnkd.in/dfbz7qpR #globalhealth #midwives #midwiferytraining #simulationtraining #simulation
