The American Academy of Pediatrics is excited to be collaborating with Laerdal Global Health and World Health Organization to support an Essential Newborn Care 1 workshop at the ICM conference in Kigali in September. ENC 1 teaches neonatal resuscitation and focuses on care from birth to 60 minutes after birth, and is the updated version of Helping Babies Breathe. 👏 Congratulating our CEO, who has been selected for an expert committee, providing advice on Norway's efforts to promote global health. Karoline Myklebust Linde will join the committee, consisting of eleven members, including the foremost experts in global health, health policy and international development from both the public and private sector. The committee's mandate is to outline the greatest challenges and opportunities in global health up to 2050, detailing how Norway can contribute internationally, both financially and politically. It's estimated that 30 million births occur in humanitarian settings, every year. Access to basic obstetric and newborn care is critical. That's why it's espeically important for healthcare personnel in fragile settings to be prepared to manage childbirth complications. But training in humanitarian settings is a challenge. That's when remote facilitation can help.   Last week the AAP Global Health and American Academy of Pediatrics shared the newly released project brief published by USAID MOMENTUM with highlights and best practices from the implementation of the World Health Organization's Essential Newborn Care Course in South Sudan.
