The future of Data Driven Decision making Rob Bell, Kadme Business Development VP was invited by Globethics of Geneva to give the keynote at their two day Conference on AI and the future for data analytics in India. Hosted by Vivekanada College, Tiruchengodu, 1,500 delegates watched live or on-line across India. The brief was to unpack the focus: the future business landscape, the relevance of the UNs sustainable Development Goals and the role of the digital economy. The keynote set the scene: climate, geo-political uncertainties and conflict are challenging business models and data must work harder when resources are scarce – especially true of developing markets. Using examples from Lumin, Kadme’s knowledge and data management platform, he emphasised the value integrating unstructured as well as structured data to support data driven decision making – the value of data as an asset class. In the Developing world, this is key for an often under resourced public and private sector to attain the UNs Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. National Data Repositories (NDRs) are turning energy and minerals data into national data assets that can underpin significant gains in country defending and growing core revenues short term. Virtual Data Rooms (VDRs) supporting critical supply chains with multiple partners. Longer term, there are exciting developments using AI tools way beyond plain automation and personal or team productivity. Kadme are learning from UI (User Interface) and UX (User Experience) with clients; extending capability with partnerships to devise strategic modelling techniques using analytics for enterprise wide gains – enhanced by partnerships with AWS on cloud services and Microsoft on data analytics. Significantly, this can help leverage 3rd Party resources to define capacities needed and deliver in-house capabilities as well as ad hoc solutions. We need to shake things up and embed what we can do differently. This Conference was setting out an agenda which carries weight in many of the markets that Kadme are working in now – NDRs in Columbia, Argentina and Peru; VDRs in Cote D’Ivoire. Data is the new oil is often said. It can only add value when it is put to work.
