🔔 Important update for researchers on open access publishing By mid-September, the national deal with Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), the leading publisher of journals in medicine, nursing, and allied health, will reach its limit for open access (OA) article publications. After this point, researchers will need to cover OA costs themselves or choose an alternative route for OA publication. Stay informed and plan your submissions accordingly! 📚💡 #OpenAccess #ResearchFunding #AcademicPublishing

🔎 In patients with pancreatic, duodenal, or periampullary cancer lymph node metastases are an important prognostic factor for a decreased survival. But unfortunately with current diagnostic techniques these lymph node metastases cannot be reliably detected. Researchers Geke Litjens and John J. Hermans from the imaging department, in collaboration with colleagues from their department and the surgery, pathology, and gastroenterology department, have investigated an iron based MRI contrast-agent to improve detection of lymph node metastases. 🤖 Next to slowness and shaking, people with Parkinson's disease also experience complaints that have nothing to do with movement. These symptoms, including sleep problems, have a major impact on the quality of life, but receive little attention in Parkinson's research. Scientists from Radboud university medical center therefore advocate the use of smart sensors that measure these symptoms at home. 🚶♂️ 🚶♀️ 🔎 This year, the 4Days Marches research focuses on various studies, with a standout investigation into why some participants walk increasingly crooked during the march. Additionally, Radboud university medical center exercise physiologist Maria Hopman and her team are researching different types of proteins that should promote muscle recovery. In the event of a heatwave, there will also be a follow-up study on the effects of wearing white and black clothing. #4daagse #4Daysmarches #Nijmegen

🏃♂️ Exercise is known to boost health and extend lifespan, but even active individuals can develop cardiovascular diseases. Often, amateur athletes with these conditions show no symptoms, putting them at risk during workouts. The #TREATstudy team is investigating the potential of using exercise-induced cardiac troponin elevations, a key biomarker for heart damage, to identify hidden cardiovascular diseases in athletes. This simple blood test could be a game-changer for early detection and prevention. 🩺💪 Sylvan Janssen Thijs Eijsvogels #CardiovascularHealth #ExerciseScience #TREATStudy #HealthResearch
