Role Overview

As an Algorithmic Trader at Energetech, you'll lead a diverse range of trading activities, specializing in gas, power, emissions, and oil markets. You'll develop and refine sophisticated strategies, leveraging advanced quantitative methods, machine learning, and real-time data analysis to maximize alpha.

Your role involves designing low-latency trading algorithms, implementing statistical arbitrage, market making, and trend-following strategies, and optimizing them through rigorous backtesting and performance monitoring. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of relevant energy markets
• Identify and exploit market inefficiencies and dislocations.
• Develop, backtest, and optimize algorithmic trading strategies, including statistical arbitrage, trend following, and market making.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trading opportunities and patterns.
• Utilize quantitative techniques to model market behavior and price movements.
• Write, test, and deploy trading algorithms using programming languages such as Python, C .
• Monitor and manage the risk exposure of trading strategies.
• Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of trading algorithms.
• Collaborate with other traders, quants, and developers to share insights and improve strategies.
• Stay informed about market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements.
• Proactively seek out new opportunities for algorithmic trading in emerging markets.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Expertise in advanced quantitative techniques including stochastic calculus, Monte Carlo simulations, Bayesian inference, and machine learning algorithms (e.g., reinforcement learning, neural networks) applied to energy markets.
• Proficiency in Python and C , with experience in developing low-latency, high-frequency trading systems a plus. Familiarity with GPU programming (CUDA) for computational acceleration.
• Proven track record in designing, backtesting, and optimizing algorithmic trading strategies such as statistical arbitrage, market making, and trend following. Experience with execution algorithms (e.g., VWAP, TWAP, POV).
• Proficient in handling and analyzing large datasets using distributed computing frameworks like Hadoop and Spark. Advanced skills in SQL and NoSQL databases for data storage and retrieval.
• Strong understanding of machine learning techniques (e.g., supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning) with practical experience using libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, and Keras for predictive modeling and algorithmic strategy development.
• Experience with high-performance computing environments, including parallel computing, cloud-based computing (AWS, Azure), and the use of containers (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable algorithm deployment.
• Advanced knowledge of quantitative risk management techniques, including real-time risk analytics, dynamic hedging strategies, portfolio optimization, and scenario-based stress testing. Familiarity with regulatory requirements like MiFID II, Dodd-Frank, and REMIT.
• Deep understanding of market microstructure, order flow analysis, and the impact of trading algorithms on market behavior. Experience with market simulation and agent-based modeling.
• Ability to document complex algorithms and systems with clarity using tools like LaTeX and Markdown. Proficiency in creating data visualizations and technical reports to communicate findings and strategies effectively.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest advancements in algorithmic trading, financial engineering, and emerging technologies such as blockchain and quantum computing.
• Demonstrated history of delivering alpha through innovative trading strategies in a competitive, high-pressure environment.
