The courses health physics level 5 concern the safe handling of radioactive sources and radiation producing equipment with a limited irradiation risk. Closed sources and X-ray equipment are dealt with in the level 5A course; the extended level 5B course also discusses working with open radioactive compounds that also cause a limited risk of radioactive contamination. Both courses provide a broad introduction in health physics and are mainly concerned with practical radiation safety.

The success of the project has led to a joint-venture of the local partner and LG Sonic to establish the company LiceSonic to further exploit the developed technology

Within the DRONIC project, the consortium aims to develop an autonomous surface vessel that automatically samples, monitors and maps bathymetry and water quality data in large lakes and reservoirs (4 Ha ), to determine and localize algae (cyanobacteria) blooms. based on this information one or more secondary (Slave) USV(s) can be send in to the bloom, to precipitate the blue-green algae and breakdown the toxic metabolites. These USV’s (unmanned surface vessel) are equipped with an ultrasound acoustic system that uses two different types of ultrasound. The first ultrasound type will be of relatively low frequency and high output power, to create a local high pressure wave that collapses the blue-green algal gas vesicles without harming their cell wall or other organisms in the water . The second type of ultrasound will have a higher frequency that will enhance local bubble formation and production of hydrogen radicals (•H and •OH) that break down the bacterial metabolites like microcystines, Geosmins and MIB’s -

Through the Clearwater-PMPC project, we have successfully developed and tested the system that would finally become our most successful product, the MPC-Buoy. The project aimed to develop a system to destroy precisely the algae species that happen to be present at any given time through an environmentally friendly, sustainable technology based on ultrasound.
The Clearwater-PMPC project has developed a buoy system that can control algae blooms in lakes autonomously, by monitoring and interpreting water quality parameters. These buoys work with an ultrasonic sound signal of specific frequency, amplitude, duration and form. The ultrasound signal is optimized based on the algae type present in the water and because of this, does not harm plants, insects or other life present in a lake. For this reason, the buoys developed under the Clearwater-PMPC project are particularly useful for algae control in natural lakes, dams and drinking water reservoirs. The range of such a buoy is approximately 500 meter diameter.
