❓ 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪 𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙤𝙣𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝙬𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙝 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙛𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙪𝙧𝙚 𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙗𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙛𝙞𝙩 𝙛𝙧𝙤𝙢 𝙣𝙤𝙣-𝙞𝙣𝙫𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙙𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙣𝙚? Pleased to announce the publication of our scoping review in #NHJ, where we evaluate and synthesize evidence on the effectiveness of telemedicine across heart failure subpopulations. Our review reveals:   💡 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲: Study findings varied, with no definitive evidence on which patients benefit most from telemedicine due to inconsistent subgroup definitions and small sample sizes; 👫 𝗡𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗲𝘀: Future research should focus on (multivariable) subgroup analyses to identify who benefits from telemedicine and when in the course of HF; 📝 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗖𝗧𝘀: Current RCTs have not provided clear guidance for clinicians; 📊 𝗔𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀: Replication studies and observational studies using electronic health records linked with telemedicine device data may offer more tailored insights. Hope vs. Hype III: Rescue/on-demand therapies are preferable to device-assisted therapies in Parkinson disease The Parkinson Study Group (PSG) gathered North American experts in Parkinson disease during the 9th Annual Symposium, Shaping the Management of Parkinson Disease: Debating Current Controversies. Debaters were tasked with agree or disagree positions to a particular prompt. This is the third in the series of “Hype versus Hope” debates involving current trends and advances in Parkinson disease. With the prompt of “Rescue/On-demand therapies are preferable to device-assisted therapies in Parkinson disease,” Dr. Stuart Isaacson, MD was tasked with the “agree” stance and Dr. Joohi Jimenez-Shahed, MD was tasked with the “disagree” stance. Changing practice through our research is a wish of many scientists. Exactly this has happened here. Impossible without this great inter-academic collaboration. One critical note to make is that the timeline to change these practice guidelines is almost as long as doing the medical trials that provide the evidence. In order to improve the monitoring of a patient's response to therapy, a method is provided to set a plurality of allele frequency thresholds to accounting for variations among tumours and patients.
