I spent the last 3 days in the Netherlands attending the International Enneagram Conference. It was an enriching experience for me, having to meet many speakers, delegates and trainers from all over the world. For me, attending an Enneagram conference is not just about head knowledge. It is also about the mass of self aware people I get to meet. I am so enriched by the meaningful conversations on personal growth, and relationship growth, what worked and what didn't. It is a place of openness and deep sharing, with people we just met, for the sake of empathizing, understanding and learning. Definitely not the superficial hi and bye which we have tons of. 2 of the memorable conversations I had: Me: Are you ok? Type 5 lady: I was so touched by the sharing by the previous speaker (tearing up) - And we had a deep conversation about Type 5's fear of abandonment (I never knew they fear being abandoned because they always look so cold to me. I was so enriched by this conversation) ------------ Me: So what have you been working on the last 2 years Type 5: I took up painting, I took up role playing sessions, I can now feel my belly, no longer just in the head. - And we continued the conversation on how paradoxical he feels about connecting with the head and heart. (The inner world of a Type 5, which not many could put the words to describe) Enneagram comes to life through the stories that people tell..
