The Dutch Ministry of Defence has outlined plans to acquire two additional frigates as part of its 2024 Defence White Paper. The paper claimed that the anti-submarine warfare frigates would enhance the Royal Netherlands Navy’s capabilities, while the ministry outlined further plans to procure more F-35s and Leopard 2A8 tanks for the Netherlands Armed Forces. Drone detection and countermeasure manufacturer DroneShield can look forward to greater opportunities selling to European militaries following an approval from the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). The approval awarded via COBBS BELUX BV, DroneShield’s in-country Belgium and Luxembourg partner, is the first Counter-small UAS procurement framework agreement in NATO history. The initial agreement is for 3 years, with extension options, with DroneShield expecting a ‘significant’ total in sales under the framework.
