Young NMT offers young maritime professionals the opportunity to meet each other, learn from one another and get inspired. What do we do? Young NMT is the platform of Young Professionals in the Dutch Maritime Industry. We organize a number of knowledge and networking events throughout the year, with the goal of connecting Young Professionals in and to the sector. Last week, Young Broekman Logistics hosted an succesfull event bringing together their young professionals, Young IRO and Young NMT. 🤝🏻 The event began at ShoreTension, where we enjoyed insightful presentations. From exploring the history of the #RDM (Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij) with Jouke Goslinga to learning about the workings of #ShoreTension from Gerrit van der Burg and Patrick Boon, and gaining an overview of #Broekman Logistics by Rutger Bonsel. Following the presentations, we had an exclusive tour on the terminal and Heavy Lift Centre and end the evening with a nice networking opportunity including drinks and bites. Stap in de wereld waar de Rotterdamsche Droogdok Maatschappij (RDM) in 1904 begon met het onderhoud en de bouw van schepen. Known for their expertise in new builds, maintenance, repairs, and conversions of various types of vessels. Led by Eric Moerkerk, we were given a firsthand look at their operations. From the cutting-edge technology in their shipyard to the intricate craftsmanship on display, it was a day filled with inspiration and insight. Last week, we went with a large group of enthusiastic young professionals to Pon Power's facilities in Papendrecht and got a look behind the scenes. During the visit, we were shown that Pon Power is adapting to digitalization and the energy transition. The visit included insightful presentations, starting with Dennis's captivating talk on design thinking within the innovation team. Next, Janos van Galen shared invaluable insights into the needs of ship owners and terminal operators when it comes to shore power solutions. And last but not least, Marten Jan Visser took us through the fascinating world of Cat Connect, showcasing how they collect, analyze, and utilize data for optimal performance.
