Proud to be featured in Fast Company with our blue-green roof solution! What is the article all about? It describes how the Dutch city of Amsterdam is implementing our innovative blue-green roofs to combat flooding and improve climate resilience. These roofs feature hidden reservoirs beneath vegetation to store rainwater during storms. The technology can capture 70-97% of rainfall in extreme events, significantly outperforming traditional green roofs. Connected to weather forecasts, the system can automatically release water before storms to increase capacity. Amsterdam's government is promoting this solution, with a 2021 ordinance requiring rainwater storage in new constructions. Wavin's PolderRoof technology is versatile, applicable to rooftops, balconies, and ground-level spaces, and is now being implemented in projects worldwide, from Europe to North-America. Wavin is an Orbia business, delivering Building & Infrastructure solutions. Amsterdam's gorgeous green roofs have hidden reservoirs to capture rainwater - Fast Company

Exciting news from the world of sustainable construction! A building project in the Netherlands is showcasing the future of eco-friendly housing. Key highlights: • 20 flex homes built using 90% biobased materials • Innovative Ventiza Biobased air distribution system by Wavin • 75% CO2 reduction compared to traditional PVC production • Circular design principles for easy disassembly and reuse. This project demonstrates how modular, sustainable homes can be efficiently constructed using renewable resources. It's an interesting example of the construction industry's shift towards sustainability and circularity. "This is just the beginning of a long-term partnership with the same partners across the entire chain," says Chris van Vilsteren of Loohuis Assies. Are you ready to embrace the future of sustainable construction? Let's connect and discuss how we can work together to create a greener built environment! 🌍💧 Exciting News: Orbia & Microsoft Launch Water Replenishment Project in Brazil! 💧🌍 We’re thrilled to announce that Orbia will join forces with Microsoft and Sanasa Campinas on a significant water replenishment project in Campinas, São Paulo. This initiative is a key step towards Microsoft’s goal to replenish more water than it consumes by 2030 and tackles the urgent issue of water stress in the Campinas region, which has faced seven droughts in the past decade. Orbia will use Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin) solutions to deliver various water positive projects. This first collaboration will utilize Orbia’s Water Network Management (WNM) service, powered by TaKaDu, to improve network efficiency and significantly reduce water losses. This innovative solution offers real-time monitoring and management of water network issues, ensuring a more sustainable and resilient water supply. As Eliza Roberts, Water Lead at Microsoft, stated, “Water is a shared challenge that requires a collective approach.” We are proud to join forces with Microsoft and SANASA in this important endeavor to support sustainable water management and make a positive impact on our planet. Together, we are taking meaningful steps toward water security and resilience. Here’s to a future where water challenges are met with innovation and collaboration! https://lnkd.in/eStWRqaX

Here at Wavin, we have been enjoying watching the highlights from the ongoing Olympics in Paris. We were disappointed to see the Men’s triathlon has been postponed today due to surface-water pollution in the River Seine. We caught up with Anthony Kolanko, Urban Climate Resilience Commercial Manager, to find out more about why this happened.
