Is "Glocal" an Overused Buzzword or the Perfect Descriptor? Last week, my colleague Christian van Stiphoudt and I had the pleasure of visiting our long-term clients, BASF, at their impressive new BASF Service HUB. During our Quarterly Business Review (QBR), we conducted a thorough and objective analysis of the performance of the media channels used in Q2, gaining valuable insights. Additionally, we focused on identifying new opportunities to enhance BASF’s recruitment marketing efforts and prepare for the future. While our current approach is successful, I believe it’s crucial to continually explore emerging trends and technologies that can support our goals moving forward. For instance, VONQ's programmatic solution allows our customers to distribute job postings seamlessly from a single platform to numerous pay-for-performance job boards. By strategically segmenting jobs within campaigns, customers can ensure their media budget is utilized effectively and efficiently. It might seem like a no-brainer to implement such a successful strategic tool on a global scale. However, the reality often involves a “Glocal” setup, where local independence needs to be respected and managed appropriately. That's why I believe it's important to identify use cases, build from them, and implement new strategies in a step-by-step manner. This process requires intense communication and convincing various stakeholders, which is not only challenging but also an interesting aspect of my role as a Key Account Manager. In conclusion, "Glocal" sits in a sweet spot between being a buzzword and an apt descriptor. Thank you, Kaja Baitz and Karina Espinola Camarillo, for ending the day with a big smile!
