📣 Dr Veronika Weber appointed as new Director Quality Assurance & Operations Germany We're thrilled to announce that Dr. Veronika Weber will be taking on the role of Director Operations Germany from June 1, 2024, alongside her current position as Director Quality Assurance Germany. She succeeds Uwe Tost, who will be leaving the company on July 1, 2024. 🚀 Dr. Weber, a renowned #veterinarian and winner of the German Meat Industry Talent Award, is widely recognized as an expert in quality assurance and animal welfare. With her extensive experience and strategic vision, she's the perfect fit for this dual role. Vion is the first to succeed in calculating the CO₂ footprint of pork from a large group of pig farmers at farm level with actual data. 📊 Vion initiated and commissioned the development of the CO₂ footprint calculator, which was developed together with data company ImpactBuying. With this calculator, Vion provides insight into the total CO₂ emissions in the production chain of pork products. 🐷 Through cooperation with all chain partners, emissions can be identified and reduced at each step. This has resulted in the total CO₂ footprint of Vion pork production for Dutch retail now being visible. Want to know more? The International Grüne Woche opens today in Berlin. For the next week, Berlin will be the meeting point for the international agriculture and agri-food sector. In the Dutch pavilion, De Dierenbescherming, Stichting Beter Leven keurmerk, Deloitte, DNA TraceBack® from MSD Animal Health Nederland and Vion are jointly manning one stand. 🤝 With this collaboration, the parties are demonstrating their joint commitment to sustainable livestock farming, animal welfare, food safety and traceability of meat products. Representatives of these organisations will present their joint innovations for more animal welfare and a price for everyone in the chain where additional costs for the farmer are reimbursed. To strengthen the relationship with its suppliers, Vion organised five Supplier Days this autumn, with the theme 'Chain cooperation in the international pork market'. 🐷 A total of 300 suppliers within Vion's Good Farming Balance supply chain concept were welcomed at the headquarters in Boxtel (NL). The days were about the meaning and importance of chain cooperation and the role in it of the various chain partners. The suppliers were taken in Vion's vision and strategy and were given a tour of the newest production site in Boxtel. Once again, Vion joined the largest gathering of the German meat industry, the German Meat Congress discussing the future of the industry, consumer behaviour, societal demands, and more. Let us share some highlights: 📒 Vion’s COO Germany, Philippe Thomas, joined industry leaders in a panel discussing essential strategies. His insight: Tailored "à la carte" concepts for diverse consumer preferences, developed through integrated chains with #farmers and #customers, are the industry's future. ⚡ Communication stays a crucial topic, from unbiased scientific communication on meat production to putting an end to meat-bashing in consumer campaigns. It was good to see inspiring examples from European neighbours for confident and conscious meat consumption. 🏆 Congratulations once again to our Digital Innovation Manager, Alba Lucke, who received the Young Talent Award from the meat industry amid applause! 🥩 Germany's Minister of Agriculture, Cem Özdemir, visited the event in the evening. 👨🍳 While waiting for the minister, guests could enjoy the delightful Flying Buffet from SALOMON FoodWorld and afterwards Vion invited to the traditional Vion Winter #BBQ. We are thrilled to extend our congratulations to Alba Lucke, one of the three remarkable winners of the coveted Meat Industry Talent Award in Germany, presented by Allgemeine Fleischer Zeitung and FLEISCHWIRTSCHAFT. 🎉 Alba's journey with Vion began in September 2020 as an International Management Trainee, showcasing impressive technical expertise and an exceptional aptitude for rapid learning. After completing her Master of Science in Agricultural Sciences, she seamlessly transitioned into the role of S&OP Process Specialist, where she is working at the development of a #data-driven production planning tool. In her current position as Manager Digital Innovations since May 2023, Alba is playing a pivotal role in further developing the blockchain technology at Vion. As a board member of the Young Vion Club she also engages for our young #talents connecting them across the company.
