History PMB Tobacco PMB was formally founded in 1946 even though the abbreviation has been in existence since 1935. When the tobacco concern Mignot & de Block started to sell their internally developed cigar banding machine through the company Progrès Mécanique Bruxelles (PMB). The brand PMB is well-known in the tobacco industry it was purposely retained and the name Patent Machine Bouw attached to it. 1947, PMB bought the company P. van der Heiden, which had a special program consisting of primary tobacco machinery. After the Second World War, the tobacco industry required extra equipment for the production of cigarettes and cigars. It was an opportunity to become a worldwide manufacturer for the tobacco industry. 1961, PMB’s largest competitor, Arenco of Sweden, purchased 50% of the shares of PMB and later in 1968 became the 100% owner. The name was subsequently changed into Arenco-PMB, which remained that way until 1980. At this time Arenco decided to cease all tobacco-related activities and the company returned to trading as PMB once more. This is how PMB came to not only represent PMB equipment but also the full range from Arenco. The business in the United States of America became a major part of the Groups turnover, which necessitated PMB, Inc. to be established in Richmond, VA in 1980. PMB, Inc. also became a representative of former competitors AMF and York. PMB decided to get diversify its business activities into the packaging industry. They started this venture by purchasing UVA, a supplier of vertical form, filling and sealing machines. 2003, the VDL Groep acquired PMB – UVA and became VDL PMB-UVA. Both brands located in the same building in Eindhoven. 2021, VDL PMB-UVA is a VDL company carrying two brands under one roof; PMB and UVA. We believe in the power of both brands and feel the time has come to empower them to become stand-alone under a new name. VDL PMB and VDL Packaging both companies are a subsidiary of VDL Packaging bv

In memory of Wim van der Leegte Wim has meant a lot to many of us. From 1966 onwards, he laid the foundations for our international family business with around 16,000 colleagues at more than 100 operating companies in 19 countries. Wim saw that the combination of craftsmanship and automation could point the way to well-being and prosperity for many. Wim was a respected figurehead with vision and guts, socially committed and an entrepreneur with human touch for all. In 2016, Wim handed over the leadership of VDL Groep to his three children, Pieter, Jennifer and Willem. Even from that moment on, he remained of great significance with his experience, wisdom and inspiration. His compassion and entrepreneurship are a lasting inspiration. Now Wim leaves a great void. The VDL PMB - RSC 100 is part of our cigar finishing line-up. It combines two machines in one frame to reduce the footprint and create a perfect process between storage, banding and finishing it in cellophane wrapping. The S-100, with an improved folding system, handles each cigar gently and wraps a single die-cut band around the cigar. It delivers an extra dimension of branding and luxury. The S-100 has single or double banding options for tax bands or a second band for additional promotion. The final phase is on our cellophane part of the RSC machine. The C-100 offers the possibility to wrap the cigar in polypropylene, laminate or aluminium foil with or without a tear strip. With speeds reaching over 100 cigars per minute, we developed a machine that provides the ease of creating cigars with an exceptional finish. Besides the ring and cellophane option, we can offer a tipping, wood, perforating, piercing or cutting option or combinations of these machines in one compact frame.
