Turning Emissions into solutions! Our team at VDL Carbon capture is proud to be part of Everlong CCUS project. The SSCV #Sleipnir🚢 from Heerema Marine Contractors set sail in June 2024 with our pilot Ship-based Carbon Capture system. The objective of this campaign is to test all aspects of the CO₂ capture and onboard storage system. The SBCC pilot system is capturing CO₂ from the ships exhaust in one of the main engine from the SSCV #Sleipnir. The captured CO₂ is stored as a liquid in a standard 20’ CO₂ storage container. The unit is supervised locally on board by a team of service engineers from VDL Carbon capture and our partner Carbotreat. At the same time the process is also monitored closely from shore. René Veldman - Technical manager from VDL Carbon capture gives insights on how the carbon capture sytem works and explains whats coming for the future of maritime world. "Another step towards less CO₂ in the atmosphere!" #sbcc #occs #sustainability #carbonneutral #carboncapture #vdlgroep #strengththroughcooperation #decarbonize #IMO2030
Over ons
Dutch Family-owned company - Global leader in smart & innovative exhaust gas treatment technology for the maritime industry. VDL AEC Maritime focuses on the development, engineering, in-house manufacturing, commissioning and servicing of innovative maritime products and systems of the highest quality. We have managed to bring SOx scrubbing and Carbon Capture from the landbased inductry to the maritime industry. Since 2013 we have successfully completed more than 125 maritime SOx Scrubber projects and now focussing on Ship Based Carbon Capture (SBCC) for the shipping industry for HFO-fuelled engines aswell as LNG / Methanon fuelled engines. Over the years we have managed to make exhaust gas cleaning simple. Our Open Loop, Closed Loop and Hybrid Loop systems are easy to operate, maintenance friendly and can be fitted into vessels with all types of engines. The VDL AEC Maritime exhaust cleaning systems are cost & fuel efficient and easy to use. Your vessel crew quickly learns to operate it during an effective familiarization session. Onboard carbon capture (OCC) can be a technically feasible option for reducing emissions and could be commercially attractive if the right regulatory and market drivers are in place. A recent DNV white paper 'The potential role of onboard carbon capture in shipping' offers an exhaustive analysis of all crucial aspects around OCC. The paper's techno-economic insights help guide investment decisions in decarbonization technology options to future-proof fleets as emissions regulations continue to evolve and tighten. Heerema Marine Contractors will test onboard carbon capture system (OCSS) on its LNG-fuelled vessel, SSCV Sleipnir, as part of the EverLoNG project. Developed by Carbotreat and VDL Carbon capture, the CCS system uses amine-based solvent to capture CO2 from exhaust gases. Captured CO2 gas will be liquefied and stored cryogenically in a pressurised onboard tank. The trial aims to test the system's capture rate, liquefaction capacity and logistics for offloading and transporting CO2 to storage. Heerama's SSCV Sleipnir, a specialised semi-submersible crane vessel, will test the OCSS system for 500 operating hours. Read the full story on ENGINE 👉 https://lnkd.in/dUzmFsRT
