โI met a lot of different people during my Master's degree, many of whom were really passionate about physics, which also inspired me.โ Mare Dijkstra "I don't know what I'll do after my master's yet. There are lots of possibilities, but I'd love to work in solar energy and find a job that lets me make an impact. However, before that, Iโm also thinking about doing a PhD and staying in academia for a few more years." https://lnkd.in/egDvEtze Tom Savenije

Four TU Delft | Applied Sciences researchers have been awarded NWO (Dutch Research Council) Take-off funding: Lars Bannenberg, Martin Pabst, Marnix Wagemaker and Guillaume Renaud ๐ Find out which innovative research results they plan to bring to the market ๐ ๐ ๐๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐๐ง ๐๐๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ by Lars Bannenberg ๐ The patented optical hydrogen sensing technology developed at TU Delft can reliable detect hydrogen at a high precision and over an enormous concentration range while consisting of relatively inexpensive components. As such, it technically outperforms current hydrogen sensing technology in both performance and applicability. As food sources diversify, there is a growing need for advanced analytical methods to verify food identity and quality. The startup has developed a software solution specifically designed for food analytics laboratories. This solution enhances the authentication of food raw materials and food products based on proteins, addressing these challenges. The researchers have developed a robust, safe, cheap and fully sustainable battery for stationary storage solutions, which is devoid of any conflict materials. This is due to the usage of merely organic materials in combination with the aqueous sodium-ion electrolyte. A propriety synthesis method suppresses the solubility of organic materials in an aqueous battery which has led to a cycle life of >18.000 (~49 years by single daily usage). This makes Sodium aqueous batteries a challenger for incumbent technologies like Li-Ion and Lead-Acid. Bone and joint disorders are highly prevalent and engender high socio-economic costs. Today, they are partly diagnosed with x-ray, magnetic resonance or nuclear imaging, which are pricy or ionising technologies. The team recently unlocked ultrasound imaging inside bones. With this safe, portable and affordable technology, they wish to improve patient comfort, as well as the efficiency and quality of the management of bone and joint diseases.

Congratulations to our researchers Tessel Bouwens, Mark de Geus, Yan B. Vogel and Adrian Mularczyk for receiving a Veni grant from NWO (Dutch Research Council)! They receive the personal award along with ten other laureates from Delft University of Technology. Tessel Bouwens will develop a tiny shuttle bus to produce building blocks for medicines using solar energy, avoiding polluting fossil fuels. Mark de Geus is going to develop new chemistry for cancer therapy with a lower dosis of radiation. Yan B. Vogel aims to uncover how carbon dioxide reactions work so we can convert CO2 into valuable chemicals using renewable energy. โก Adrian Mularczyk will work on smaller sizes at larger scales of electrochemical reactors and boost their capabilities to be integrated in our energy grids.
