The roof of the building our central office is based in does not only contain solar panels. We were happy to see the green roof being used for family expansion by our regular visitors, the oystercatchers.

The possible impact of our coatings to our client’s carbon footprint is a regular item of discussion with the end users of Transocean Coatings. Think of the effect on reducing drag of ocean going vessels of our Armada anti-fouling products and our Ultima fouling release coating. Another example is the effect of higher durability on longer maintenance cycles and higher solid products requiring less transport moves in the supply chain. To test the durability of our coatings, one of the methods used is to mimic the sun’s UV rays in a test cabinet. Today our solar panels have started to supply the power for this and other equipment in our central office laboratory. Good to see that even on a somewhat overcast day they straight away make an impact on our carbon footprint. Transocean Coatings shake hands on management re-shuffle Transocean Coatings has started the year with a new Managing Director. In the picture Waling Dijkstra, chairman (left) shakes hands with Bart Martens (right). Martens makes the move to Managing Director from the position of Marketing Director. Kees Zaal, who was Transocean Coatings’s general manager, will stay with the global coatings group in the role of Director of Technology.
