Zwart Nazareth was de treffende bijnaam van Gemeente Schiedam tot halverwege de 20ste eeuw. Schiedam stond bekend om de succesvolle jeneverproductie. Inmiddels hebben de meeste jeneverfabrieken in de stad plaats gemaakt voor woningbouw, net zoals op het Dirkzwager terrein. Midden op stond een in in het oog springend pand uit 1908; een koperslagerij met daarbovenop het enige woonhuis op het terrein. In 2021 heeft Architect Niels Olivier de kans gezien het pand over te nemen en het om te bouwen naar privéwoning. Na een intensieve verbouwing is er een prachtige woning gerealiseerd. De originele betonvloer is afgewerkt met een recycled terrazzo vloer van The Good Floor met plastic granulaat opgevist uit de nabij zijnde rivier de Schie. De witte bio-based binder (9016 RAL) heeft een translucente instrooi met roze en paarse accenten. Zo geeft de vloer warmte en kleur aan het industriële karakter van het huis. The Good Floor installed 1250m2 recycled terrazzo in their new Investment Management office on the 10th and 11th floor in the World Trade Center (WTC) Amsterdam / Tower Ten on de Zuidas. New project: LKQ Europe LKQ Fource is a world leading global distributor of automotive parts and accessories, and Hollandse Nieuwe Architecture & Interior design took this as inspiration for their new office environment in Rotterdam. The playful layout, glossy textures, luxurious wooden elements and angled lines all contribute to an innovative and activating working environment. The office floors have an industrial feel and a cool colour palette of whites, greys and blues and the social areas have a warmer feel including green. The special recycled Terrazzo Floor connects these two areas and adds a cheerful note in an otherwise calm environment, with colored confetti flakes mixed. Sustainable materials only In all Hollandse Nieuwe Architects projects they strive to create the highest sustainability impact possible. Circular sources such as The Good Floor contains coloured flakes which are captured waste from the Maas River.
