In passivated condition, austenitic stainless #steels like X2CrNiMo25-22-2 corrode at a relatively low corrosion rate. However, when losing the passivation air, high active #corrosion can occur. One of the areas where such active corrosion can occur is in the heat exchanger tubes of the high-pressure stripper. Stamicarbon will provide its green ammonia and nitric acid technologies for FertigHy's first low-carbon #fertilizer plant in Europe. In nitric acid plants, there are mainly three solutions to reduce #emissions: primary, secondary and tertiary. Tertiary abatement consists of a dedicated reactor downstream the absorber and upstream the expander and vent stack to limit N2O and NOx emissions. Direct-connect Operator Training Simulator is a #simulator in which the dynamic model is connected to the actual Distributed Control System (DCS) of the plant. This will be a separate DCS system dedicated to the OTS, which will use a copy of the plant's DCS database. The biggest advantage of the direct-connect OTS is enabling the #operators to train in an environment most similar to what they experience in a real plant. Before a newly built #urea plant can be started up, several things need to be checked and completed. Some of the steps before startup include completing pre-commissioning (for example, phase with water runs), ensuring availability of feedstock and utilities, checking that the #safety systems are operational (like a reliable leak detection system), and making sure that critical measurements are calibrated and ready for use (N/C measurement, radar level measurement, etc.). The revamp will utilize Stamicarbon's MP Flash Design and will enable the customer to significantly lower steam utilization and achieve optimal use of feedstock, reducing their current energy consumption by over 25%.
