Recently, the first 2 weeks of the Post Graduate Certificate Leather Finish Automotive, took place in Stahl Campus (the Netherlands). These are part of a 6 weeks course, in collaboration with the University of Northampton. Theory, practicals and field trips were involved. We visited car dealers (to look at leather in cars), a tannery and went to the Leather museum (called 'het SchoenenKwartier' in Waalwijk). The theoretical part was on the leather process. For the practicals the participants had to work in groups to make 3 Automotive finished articles. Everyone really enjoyed it. Next they have to carry out online assignments, which will be graded by Stahl Campus and the University. Thanks to all the colleagues who helped making this possible! In January the group will be back at Stahl for the second 2 weeks of the master degree education. Students of "Master in Leather Engineering" visit Stahl. Recently we welcomed 8 students from the University Campus of Igualada (Higher Polytechnic School of Lleida) to Stahl Parets. The students came from Mexico, China and Spain, including some who are already working in various tanneries. In the morning, Josep Altur and Andrea Ceretta presented Stahl to the students. Michael Costello talked about sustainability initiatives in the leather industry, followed by Sonia Zapata, who presented Stahl's Leather Finish portfolio and its growth approach with an emphasis on environmental responsibility. The students also had the opportunity to visit the Parets production plant with Luis Ibañez de la Rubia, the R&D laboratory with Josep Maria Pont Pi, the screening laboratory for Leather Finish with Sonia Gongora Martin and the Dyes Center of Excellence with Suleica Jonker. In the afternoon, Gemma Monleon presented Stahl Design Studio and explained how fashion trend collections are developed at Stahl, presenting the Fall-Winter 2025-26 and Automotive collection as an example. The students spent time in the Pielcolor application lab with Ricard Salvado and Albert Cabla, visiting the physical testing lab and creating various items with products from the Pielcolor range. It’s essential to highlight and share the work we do at Stahl with future leather technicians. By doing so, we can inspire and educate the next generation about the innovative processes, sustainable practices, and cutting-edge technologies we employ. This visibility not only helps in attracting new talent but also ensures that our industry continues to evolve and improve with fresh ideas and perspectives.
